In a structure for attaching a pillar garnish according to the present invention, the structure includes: a reference attaching portion; a plurality of first movable attaching portions provided on a door side in a widthwise direction of the pillar garnish; and a plurality of second movable attaching portions provided on an widthwise outer side away from the door. Each of the first movable attaching portions allows only the thermal expansion and contraction of the pillar garnish in its longitudinal direction, while each of the second movable attaching portions allows the thermal expansion and contraction of the pillar garnish in its widthwise and longitudinal directions. In addition, since the arrangement provided is such that, at the second movable attaching portions, the pillar garnish is attached in such a manner as to urge the pillar garnish toward a widthwise reference position.

Structure for attaching pillar garnish

A construction is provided for fastening a plurality of members which thermally expand and contract together to a base member with a screw member, in such a manner that those members do not interfere with each other when they thermally expand or contract. An interference that would otherwise be generated between a plurality of members to be fastened together when the respective members thermally expand and contract can be prevented with a simple construction by interposing an interference preventing spacer member between the respective members. The spacer member is positioned in a radial direction relative to a screw portion. With one member, the fastened portion where the members are fastened together functions as a reference point for absorbing the thermal expansion and contraction. With the other member, an elongate hole is used at this fastened portion for absorbing the thermal expansion and contraction. Accordingly, the single fastened portion allows fastening corresponding to the respective members. Moreover, since there is caused no looseness of the respective members, there is no risk of the aesthetic appearance of the members being damaged which are so fastened together to the base member.

Center pillar structure

An extruded material frame connection structure for a vehicle, which is constituted by a frame assembly and a reinforcing cover. The frame assembly includes a first extruded member and a second extruded member which are assembled in a state where the first and second extruded members intersect each other and which are welded to each other at an assembled portion thereof so as to be integrated with each other. The reinforcing member is formed to have a size so that the reinforcing member covers the assembled portion between the first and second extruded members and extends to cover portions of the first and second extruded members, the reinforcing member being assembled to the frame assembly and welded to each of the first and second extruded members. With the configuration, it is possible to obtain a frame connection structure in which not only a necessary strength can be secured but also thermal distortion can be suppressed.

Extruded material frame connection structure for vehicle

A side sill is formed into a stair-like configuration with step portions having in turn upper surfaces of lower and upper steps and an intermediate rise portion rising from the step portion so as to reach the step portion of the upper step. A lower end of a center pillar having substantially an angular 8-shaped cross-section is cut in conformity with the stair-like configuration of the side sill. The cutting of the center pillar exposes the intermediate wall, and the exposed intermediate wall is then brought into abutment with the rise portion, whereupon abutment portions so produced are welded together to thereby get the side sill and the center pillar integrated with each other.

Pillar joint structure for automotive vehicle

A vehicle body frame structure is comprised of plurality of loop-shaped members each formed by a hollow pieces extruded from a light alloy. Each loop-shaped member is polygonal in cross section. The vehicle body frame structure is partly formed by a plurality of such loop-shaped members joined sidewise together. Each loop-shaped member is comprised of at least two hollow extruded pieces joined together by a core coupling or a split muff coupling. Part of each loop-shaped member is stepped so that it can be joined with a companion loop-shaped member by mating the stepped portions of the two loop-shaped members one over the other.

Vehicle body frame structure

In a space frame type vehicle body structure, a floor member has a side sill inner half securely attached along each side edge thereof, and a side frame has a side sill outer half securely attached along a lower edge thereof, and these two halves are provided with mutually cooperating snap fit arrangement. Because the floor member and the side frame are individually provided with a sufficient rigidity, and they can be temporarily secured each other simply by pushing them against each other, they can be welded together with a high dimensional precision without requiring any massive or complex clamping fixture.
