The liquid ejection apparatus with a liquid jetting head and support members is described. A first support member and a second support member support a guide and feeding roller in a scanning direction and are attached to a housing of the liquid ejection apparatus. The housing at the location to which the first support member is attached is easier to deform in the scanning direction than housing at the location to which the second support member is attached. Further, the housing at the first location may include a projection. The first support member may be attached to the projection.

Inkjet recording apparatus

An inkjet printer is provided that includes a control device configured to determine ink discharge moments to sequentially discharge ink droplets from a specific one of nozzles, in such a manner that a time interval between any two successive ones of the ink discharge moments is longer than a predetermined time period required for an operation to be executed by an inkjet head when forming a single dot, based on gap variation information related to a variation, in a scanning direction, of a gap between an ink discharge surface and a recording sheet held in a wave shape.

Inkjet printer

A scanner is provided with a main body, hinge, cover member, and plurality of sets of pins and pin holes. The main body includes a transparent plate on the top surface for placing a document. The hinge connects the main body and the cover member. The cover member rotates between an opened and closed state with respect to the main body. The cover member has a bottom surface, which contacts the top surface of the main body when closed. The pins are fanned on either the top surface of the main body or the bottom surface of the cover member, while the pin holes are formed on the opposing surface. The plurality of sets adjusts a positional relationship between the main body and the cover member in the closed state.

Scanner

An image reader includes a casing, a contact glass plate, a contact image sensor, and a sliding mechanism; wherein the contact image sensor has a housing, a light source attached to the housing so as to face the contact glass plate, a plurality of light receiving elements attached to the housing so as to face the contact glass plate and aligned in parallel in a longitudinal direction of the housing, and a bearing formed integral to the housing at a position below a lower surface of the housing; and the sliding mechanism includes a guide shaft provided on the casing and extending in a short direction of the housing and inserted through the bearing, and an urging member elastically which urges the guide shaft toward the contact glass plate so that the housing is pressed against the contact glass plate.

Contact image sensor and image reader

A liquid droplet jetting apparatus includes a jetting head having a jetting surface on which a plurality of nozzles are formed for jetting liquid droplets; a carriage carrying the jetting head and moving reciprocatingly in a first direction along a surface parallel to the jetting surface; and a guide member having a guide surface perpendicular to the jetting surface and extending in the first direction to guide the carriage along the guide surface. The carriage is provided with a fixed slide member fixed to the carriage to slide along the guide surface; a movable slide member arranged apart from the fixed slide member in the first direction to slide along the guide surface and configured to be movable with respect to the carriage in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction; and an angle change mechanism for changing an angle of the carriage relative to the first direction.

Liquid droplet jetting apparatus

Disclosed is a scanner with a main body, hinge, cover member, and plurality of sets of pins and pin holes. The main body includes a transparent plate on the top surface for placing a document. The cover member has a bottom surface, which contacts the top surface of the main body when closed. A tray which holds documents to be fed has a document holding portion which holds document in a stacked state thereon and guide members which are arranged on the document holding portion in the cross direction (document width direction) and at least one of which is movable in the document width direction. The document feeding tray further has an extending portion which extends from the document holding portion in the feeding direction (document length direction) to freely increase or decrease the extending amount and a adjusting mechanism which decreases the extending amount of the extending portion as a distance between the guide members becomes narrower and increases the extending portion as the distance between the guide members becomes wider.

Document holding tray, document conveying apparatus, and image reading apparatus

an image printing device comprises a transfer roller configured to transfer a printing medium in a transfer direction, a first sensor configured to detect a rotation amount of the transfer roller, a carriage mounted with a printhead. The image printing device further comprises a second sensor mounted to the carriage and configured to detect the printing medium. The image printing device further comprises a reference member disposed at a position opposing to the second sensor and a drive transmission mechanism configured to move the reference member in conjunction with a rotation of the transfer roller. The image printing device determines a position of an origin of the transfer roller based on detection results of the first sensor and the second sensor.

Image printing device

A sheet conveyor includes a conveying path along which a sheet is conveyed and a transparent member disposed on the conveying path and including a surface facing the sheet being conveyed. The transparent member including a reference line extending across the transparent member in a direction perpendicular to the conveying direction. The sheet conveyor further includes a guide member comprising a guide edge that includes a first guide edge and a second guide edge, the guide edge having a shape, such that a distance from the guide edge to the reference line varies in the direction in which the reference line extends. The guide edge further may include a first guide portion and a second guide portion. The guide member is disposed upstream of the transparent member in a conveying direction of the sheet, and the guide member is configured to guide the sheet to the transparent member. The first guide portion may include a first guide edge disposed separate from a reference line by a first distance. The second guide portion also may include a second guide edge disposed separate from the reference line by a second distance different from the first distance.

Sheet conveyor and image reading apparatus

An image reader has an image sensor; a carriage; a positioning portion formed at a predetermined position in a longitudinal direction of the image sensor with respect to a reference position of the image sensor; a connector portion to which an electric cable is connected and which is provided between an end of the carriage and one end in the longitudinal direction of a case of the image sensor; and an engaging portion formed in the carriage. In the image recording apparatus, since the positioning portion is engaged with the engaging portion, it is possible to use a common carriage for a plurality of types of image sensors, and an operation of connecting the electric cable becomes simple.

Image reader and method of producing thereof

An image reader includes: a conveyance path forming member; a conveying unit; a reading unit; and a pressing unit. The conveyance path forming member forms a part of a conveyance path extending from a conveyance start position to a discharge position via an image reading position. The conveying unit is capable of conveying documents having different widths along the conveyance path. The reading unit reads the document at the reading position. The pressing unit extends in the document width direction, is disposed as opposed to the reading unit, and holds the document conveyed by the conveying unit in cooperation with the conveyance path forming member by pressing the document against the conveyance path forming member. The pressing unit is divided into a plurality of pressing members that are arranged in the document width direction and that press the documents against the conveyance path forming member independently from one another.

Image reader

An automatic paper feed device is provided, including a cover member that has a paper insertion opening in a nearly rectangular shape, the paper insertion opening having a longitudinal direction perpendicular to both a transport direction of the paper and a thickness direction of the paper. The paper insertion opening includes a first end opening portion, a second end opening portion, and a center opening portion arranged in the longitudinal direction of the paper insertion opening. The paper insertion opening connects a placement unit, in which paper is placed, with a separation and transport mechanism, that separates paper placed in the placement unit and transports paper placed in the placement unit in the transport direction. The first and second end opening portions are each larger in size than the central opening portion.
