The present disclosure is intended to provide an electrochemical compressor capable of preventing a liquid, such as water, from accumulating inside a piston. An electrochemical compressor according to an embodiment includes a housing chamber and a drain path. The housing chamber houses an elastic body that presses an electrochemical cell with its elastic force, and is configured to receive part of a gas compressed by the electrochemical cell, the part of the gas flowing into the housing chamber. In the electrochemical cell, the gas is supplied to an anode side of a solid polymer electrolyte membrane as a partition wall, and is compressed by being moved by electricity to a cathode side opposite to the anode side. The drain path allows a liquid in the housing chamber to be drained out of the housing chamber.

Electrochemical compressor

The present disclosure is intended to prevent blockage of a path that allows a fluid to flow to a predetermined position where a pressure of the fluid is applied to a cell unit. An electrochemical compressor according to an embodiment includes first and second members, an elastic body, a fluid chamber, and a fluid path. The elastic body exerts an elastic force in a direction in which the first member and the second member are pushed apart from each other, and thereby presses a stack of electrochemical cells. The fluid chamber has the elastic body disposed therein and receives boosted gas flowing thereinto, the fluid chamber allowing the boosted gas to apply a pressure to push the first member and the second member apart from each other. The fluid path connects the fluid chamber to a flow path into which the boosted gas is discharged from the electrochemical cells.

The present invention is directed to a fuel cell separatorincluded in a fuel cell, and the fuel cell separatorincludes: a substratemade of stainless steel; a middle portionincluding a power generating portion; and an outer peripheral portionincluding a non-power generating portion. The middle portionincludes a dissimilar metal layerdifferent from the stainless steel included in the substrate on the substrate, and a carbon layerprovided on the dissimilar metal layer, and the outer peripheral portionincludes a portion including the dissimilar metal layer, the carbon layer, and a resin layeron the carbon layer, and a portion not including the dissimilar metal layeror the carbon layer, and including the resin layeron the substrate.

Fuel cell separator and method of manufacturing fuel cell separator

A fluid flow field of a separator of a fuel cell stack allows a fluid to flow in a separator surface direction. A rubber seal member provides a seal between the fluid passage and the fluid flow field. The tunnel portion intersects the rubber seal member at an intersection. The tunnel portion allows the fluid flow field and the fluid passage to connect to each other. In the rubber seal member, a first portion protrudes from a flat portion in a stacking direction, and a second portion protrudes from a protruding end surface of a tunnel portion in the stacking direction.

Fuel cell separator and fuel cell stack

A hydrogen communication hole of a water electrolysis apparatus is formed to penetrate in a stacking direction through an anode separator, an electrolyte membrane, and a cathode separator. A communication hole body, which is disposed between an anode current collector and the hydrogen communication hole, includes an inside member facing toward the hydrogen communication hole, and an outside member facing toward the anode current collector. On the outside member, there are provided accommodating chambers in which seal members are accommodated, and an opposing surface that faces toward the inside member without the seal members being interposed therebetween. The accommodating chambers and the hydrogen communication hole communicate via through holes, which are formed in the inside member in a manner so that openings on one end thereof face toward the opposing surface, and openings on another end thereof face toward the hydrogen communication hole.

Water electrolysis apparatus

In a control method of a differential pressure water electrolysis system, a reference water level of a gas-liquid separator for normal operations is set to discharge a liquid water stored in the gas-liquid separator to a discharge tube. A depressurization reference water level which is a lower water level than the reference water level is set to discharge the liquid water stored in the gas-liquid separator to the discharge tube upon depressurizing. A depressurization valve is opened to reduce pressure at a cathode side after operation of a differential pressure water electrolysis device has been stopped, in a state with voltage applied. A permissible water level upper limit value at which an open/close valve is opened is switched from the reference water level to the depressurization reference water level when the depressurization valve is opened.

Control method of differential pressure water electrolysis system

A resin frame equipped membrane electrode assembly includes a membrane electrode assembly and a resin frame member. The membrane electrode assembly includes a solid polymer electrolyte membrane and an anode, and a cathode sandwiching the solid polymer electrolyte membrane. The resin frame member is formed around the solid polymer electrolyte membrane. The outer end of an electrode catalyst layer of the cathode protrudes beyond the outer end of a gas diffusion layer, and the resin frame member includes an inner extension protruding toward the outer periphery of the cathode to contact the outer end of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane. The inner extension of the resin frame member has an overlapped portion overlapped with the outer end of the electrode catalyst layer.

Fuel cell membrane electrode assembly

A membrane-electrode assembly for a solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell includes a proton-conductive composite membrane including a reinforcing sheet and an electrolyte membrane. The reinforcing sheet has through-holes extending in a thickness direction of the reinforcing sheet. The through-holes are provided in a portion other than an edge of the reinforcing sheet in an in-plane direction. An anode electrode layer is provided on one surface of the proton-conductive composite membrane. A cathode electrode layer is provided on another surface of the proton-conductive composite membrane. At least one of an edge of the anode electrode layer and an edge of the cathode electrode layer in the in-plane direction is arranged outside in the in-plane direction with respect to the portion in which the plurality of through-holes are provided.
