An object of the invention is to provide compounds of formula (1) or salts thereof which are effective as agricultural and horticultural fungicides. In the formula, R1 represents, for example, a hydroxy group or a cyano group, R2, R3 and R4 are independent of one another and each represent, for example, a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom, R5 represents, for example, a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom, X represents an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom, Y represents, for example, a phenyl group or a pyridyl group, and the bond including the broken line represents a double bond or a single bond.

A pyridone compound represented by Formula (1): wherein R1, R2, X, Y and Z are defined. The pyridone compound can control plant diseases.

A compound represented by Formula (1) or a salt thereof is provided. R1 represents a C1-C6 alkyl group optionally substituted, a C1-C6 haloalkyl group or the like, R2 represents a halogen atom, a C1-C6 alkyl group optionally substituted, a C1-C6 alkyloxy group optionally substituted or the like, R3 represents a hydrogen atom, a halgenatom, C1-C6 alkyl group optionally substituted or the like, n represents an integer of 0 to 5, X represents an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom, Y represents a phenyl group or a pyridyl group that is substituted with substituent at an ortho position, and the bond with a broken line indicates a double bond or a single bond.
