A surface-coated cutting tool according to the present invention includes a tool body and a hard coating layer including a complex carbonitride layer containing a small amount of chlorine and (TiZrHf)(NC) (0.10&#x2264;x&#x2264;0.90, 0&#x3c;y&#x2264;1.0, 0.08&#x3c;z&#x3c;0.60), a ZrHf and C content ratios in cycles, a cycle distance between a maximum ZrHf content point and an adjacent minimum ZrHf content point and a cycle distance between a maximum C content point and an adjacent minimum C content point are 5 to 100 nm, an average value of content ratio differences &#x394;x and &#x394;z is 0.02 or more, a distance between the maximum ZrHf content point and the maximum C content point is &#x2155; or less of the distance between a maximum content point and a minimum content point of adjacent ZrHf components, and a composition fluctuation structure is 10% or more.

Surface-coated cutting tool in which hard coating layer exhibits exceptional welding resistance, plastic deformation resistance, and anomalous damage resistance

This surface-coated cutting tool is a surface-coated cutting tool having a hard coating layer formed on a surface of a tool body in which the hard coating layer includes at least one orientational Ti compound layer made of a rock salt-type cubic crystal structure containing 35 at % or more of Ti and 30 at % or more of N, a maximum TC value (TC max) is 2.5 or more, and, in the case of measuring crystal orientations, in a plane parallel to the surface of the tool body, of crystal grains for which a plane having the maximum TC value is perpendicular to the surface of the tool body, a full width at half maximum of &#x3d5; scan is 30&#xb0; or less.

Surface-coated cutting tool

A surface-coated cutting tool in which a hard coating layer exhibits exceptional adhesion resistance and anomalous damage resistance is provided. This surface-coated cutting tool includes a tool body composed of a WC based cemented carbide or a TiCN based cermet; and at least one hard coating layer provided on a surface of the tool body, and; 1) the hard coating layer includes at least one complex nitride layer, 2) the complex nitride layer contains 0.001 to 0.030 atom % of chlorine, 3) in the complex nitride layer, an area ratio of longitudinal crystal grains having an aspect ratio equal to or greater than 2 occupying a longitudinal cross section is 50% or more, and 4) a layer thickness of the complex nitride layer is 0.2 &#x3bc;m to 20 &#x3bc;m.

Surface-coated cutting tool in which hard coating layer exhibits exceptional adhesion resistance and anomalous damage resistance

In the surface-coated cutting tool, a Ti compound layer containing at least nitrogen and carbon is formed on a surface of cutting tool substrate, a nitrogen concentration in the Ti compound layer, in a case of being measured in a direction perpendicular to the surface of the cutting tool substrate in a vicinity of a cutting edge, gradually increases as a distance from cutting tool substrate increases within a range of 0.20 &#x3bc;m from the surface of the cutting tool substrate toward the Ti compound layer, an average concentration gradient of the nitrogen concentration is 20 at %/&#x3bc;m or more and 300 at %/&#x3bc;m or less, and an average nitrogen concentration in the Ti compound layer in the vicinity of the cutting edge is lower than an average nitrogen concentration in the Ti compound layer at a position of a flank face away from the cutting edge by 3 at % or more.

Surface-coated cutting tool with excellent adhesion-induced chipping resistance and peel resistance

A composite sintered body cutting tool, in which tungsten is reduced, is made of a TiCN-based cermet and WC-based cemented carbide. The cutting tool has an angle of less than 90 degrees formed by a rake face and a flank face. The rake face including a cutting edge contains WC-based cemented carbide including 4% to 17% by mass of iron group metal components with a remainder being WC. The thickness of the carbide is 0.05 to 0.3 times the thickness of the composite sintered body. The TiCN-based cermet which is a base body of the cutting tool includes 4% to 25% of the iron group metal components, less than 15% of W, 2% to 15% of Mo, 2% to 10% of Nb, and 0.2% to 2% of Cr. The cermet may contain iron group metal Co and Ni, where, Co/Co+Ni is 0.5 to 0.8.

Composite sintered body cutting tool

A composite sintered body cutting tool is made of a composite sintered body comprising a TiCN-based cermet layer; and a WC-based cemented carbide layer. The angle between the rake face and the flank face of the cutting tool is 90&#xb0;. The rake face including a cutting edge of the cutting tool is constituted from the WC-based cemented carbide layer, in which 4 to 17 mass % of an iron group metal component and 75 mass % or more of W are included; and a major hard phase component is WC. The thickness of the WC-based cemented carbide layer is 0.05 to 0.3 times the thickness of the composite sintered body. The TiCN-based cermet layer is constituted from a single layer of a TiCN-based cermet layer, including at least, 4 to 25 mass % of an iron group metal component, less than 15 mass % of W, 2 to 15 mass % of Mo, 2 to 10 mass % of Nb and 0.2 to 2 mass % of Cr in a case where contents of the constituting components of the cermet layer are expressed as contents of metal components, and satisfy the Co content relative to the total content of Co and Ni of 0.5 to 0.8 with respect to Co and Ni of the iron group metal component in a mass ratio. When the height profile from the upper end to the lower end of the flank face is measured in the plane, which passes the center of the rake face of the cutting tool and is perpendicular to both of the rake face and the flank face, as the line, which passes the ridge line where the rake face and the flank face intersect and perpendicular to the rake face, being the reference line, the maximum elevation difference value of the height profile is in a ratio of 0.01 or less with respect to the thickness of the composite sintered body from the front surface of the rake face to a rear surface.

Composite sintered body cutting tool and surface coated composite sintered body cutting tool

A surface-coated titanium carbonitride-based cermet cutting tool is a surface-coated TiCN-based cermet cutting tool in which a Ti compound layer that is a hard coating layer is deposited as a first layer on the surface of a TiCN-based cermet body containing W and Mo, and a Mo-enriched layer having an average thickness of 0.5 to 10 nm is formed at an interface between a TiCN phase of the body and the hard coating layer.

Surface-coated titanium carbonitride-based cermet cutting tool having excellent chipping resistance

Disclosed is a method of producing an insulated electric wire, in which a primary coating layer including at least an enamel-baking layer is formed on a metallic conductor to form a primary coated electric wire, and a secondary coating layer is extrusion-formed on the primary coating layer of the primary coated electric wire. The method includes an electric wire pre-heating process where a surface of the primary coating layer is pre-heated using an electric wire pre-heating unit, and a resin extrusion process where a secondary coating layer is extrusion-formed on the pre-heated primary coating layer using a resin extrusion unit. A sheathed optical fiber cutting method and apparatus for cutting the sheathed optical fiber. In one embodiment, the sheathed optical fiber is rotated around its center axis against a cutting blade. An incision is made in an area of the sheathed optical fiber that is under tension from being bent. The incision makes a cut that is flat and perpendicular to the axis of the optical fiber. In one embodiment, the blade for making the incision is mounted in a vibration generator.
