A plurality of illumination elements obliquely irradiating an inspection target region in irradiation directions different from each other and equiangularly spaced around an image capturing part in a state where each of a low-angle, intermediate-angle, and high-angle illumination parts has a different irradiation angle are sequentially turned on and off. An image of the image captured region is captured every time each of the plurality of illumination elements is turned on. A determination image generation part specifies an inspection-excluded region based on at least one of maximum luminance image data and minimum luminance image data of three types of captured image data each corresponding to an irradiation angle of each illumination part and generates determination image data for the image captured region other than the inspection-excluded region. A defect determination part determines existence of a defect based on the determination image data.

A plurality of illumination elements configured to irradiate an inspection target region with illumination light obliquely at an identical angle in respective directions different from each other and equiangularly spaced from each other around an image capturing part are sequentially turned on and off. The image capturing part generates a plurality of pieces of captured image data by capturing an image of the target region in a normal direction when each of the plurality of illumination elements is turned on. A determination image generation part generates minimum luminance image data in which a minimum value among luminance values of the plurality of pieces of captured image data at an identical pixel position is set as a luminance value at the pixel position, and then generates determination image data based on the minimum luminance image data. A defect determination part determines existence of a defect based on the determination image data.

An inspection method for a surface of a ceramic body capable of determining any crack more reliably than conventionally done is provided. The method includes a step of performing image capturing of an illuminated region of an inspection surface being illuminated with at least one of first and second illumination light from mutually different directions sandwiching an image capturing means, a step of generating a determination image, and a step of performing determination. When a first determination image is generated based on a first image capturing result obtained under illumination at least with the first illumination light, and a second determination image is generated based on a second image capturing result under illumination at least with the second illumination light, those images are generated so that determination of the presence or absence of any crack can be performed based on a difference between formation manners of shadow regions in those images.

A heat dissipation structure includes a heat-producing electronic component on a substrate, a thermally conductive case, and grease. The electronic component and the substrate are housed in the case. The grease is provided between the case and the electronic component or the substrate for transmitting heat produced by the electronic component to the case. The case has contact surfaces that contact with the grease. The contact surfaces have free energy equal to or higher than 20 mN/m and roughness equal to or larger than 1.0 &#x3bc;m.

Heat dissipation structure

An electronic control unit installed on a high temperature heat source or in its vicinity exhibits an improved heat dissipation ability within its installation environment. The electronic control unit has a chassis incorporating a printed circuit board where electronic devices are mounted. The outer surface of the chassis on the side of the high temperature heat source has a coating for lowering infrared absorption, while the outer surface of the chassis on the side away from the high temperature heat source has a coating for enhancing heat emissivity. Preferably, the inner surfaces of the chassis are subject to a surface treatment for increasing infrared absorption.

Providing a pulley unit with a reduced diameter, stable operating characteristics, and that is simple and readily removable from an engine is accomplished by a one-way clutch disposed between a pulley and a shaft body that are concentrically arranged. A shaft defines a shaft attachment space at a position which is not overlapped by rollers contained in the one-way clutch in an axial direction. The shaft body is attached to the shaft at the shaft attachment space. The shaft body, disposed inside the rollers in a radial direction, does not have a through hole, but rather, has a non-through structure.

A pulley unit capable of ensuring long-term operational stability in use as a one-way clutch is provided. A one-way clutch is disposed between a pulley and its concentric shaft. The one-way clutch exhibits a U-shaped inner ring that is integral with the pulley, a U-shaped outer ring integral with the shaft, and rollers accommodated within wedge-like spaces formed between the inner ring and the outer ring. A load from a belt is exerted not on the one-way clutch but mainly on a bearing disposed radially inside of the one-way clutch.
