To a hinge pillar including a hinge pillar inner and a hinge pillar outer that form a closed cross-section extending vertically, a speaker box configured to hold and house a speaker therein is joined and fixed. As necessary, the speaker box includes a box part formed of a sheet metal member including a bottom and side walls that form a housing space housing the speaker, together with the bottom. The box part is arranged in the opening, with the bottom located in the closed cross-section and with the housing space open inside a vehicle cabin, and is joined to an edge of the opening.

Vehicle speaker disposition structure

A dial switch is operative to be rotated or tilted and to be pushed down, which can select any one of icons displayed on a menu screen of a display portion and display information regarding a function of an onboard apparatuses corresponding to a selected icon on the display portion. A central pushing switch is configured to function as a home key such that a default-state menu screen is displayed on the display portion whenever this switch is pushed down. Left or right pushing switches is configured to function as a shortcut key such that information regarding a function of an onboard apparatus corresponding to left-positioned or right-positioned icons positioned on left and right sides of a central icon is displayed on the display portion whenever the left or right pushing switches is pushed down.

When some failure has been detected as a result of self diagnosis in first and second sound playback units ( ), a nonvolatile memory ( ) in a control unit ( ) stores device, product, and error codes, and a predetermined pattern for informing that failure is displayed on a panel display device ( ). The stored codes can be displayed on the panel display device ( ) in response to predetermined first operation, and when input operation for operating the disabled unit is made at a control panel ( ), the CPU re-displays the predetermined pattern for informing the failure on the display device with reference to the stored codes.

Sound apparatus for vehicle

A projection (41) protrudes downward from the lower side edge portion of a third electronic control unit (40). The projection forms a recess which houses a first electronic control unit (20) under the third electronic control unit (40) and has a lower opening. The third electronic control unit (40) and a control panel (10) are electrically connected to each other via connectors (13, 43). A second electronic control unit (30) is placed on the upper surface of the third electronic control unit (40), and the first and third electronic control units (20, 40) and the second and third electronic control units (30, 40) are respectively detachably connected to each other via connectors.
