A module that improves heat-dissipation efficiency and can prevent a warp and a deformation of the module is provided. A module includes a substrate, a first component mounted on an upper surface of the substrate, a heat-dissipation member, and a sealing resin layer that seals the first component and the heat-dissipation member. The heat-dissipation member is formed to be larger than the area of the first component when viewed in a direction perpendicular to the upper surface of the substrate and prevents heat generation of the module by causing the heat generated from the first component to move outside the module. The heat-dissipation member has through holes, and the through holes are packed with a resin, which can prevent the sealing resin layer from peeling off.

The present disclosure enables a component to operate stably by making it unlikely that the component will be affected by unwanted electromagnetic waves generated by another component. A module includes: a substrate; a first component and a second component that are mounted on one main surface of the substrate; a sealing resin layer that seals the first component and the second component; and a shield layer that covers part of the sealing resin layer. A recess is formed in the sealing resin layer toward the one main surface from a surface including an upper surface of the sealing resin layer between the first component and the second component in a plan view from a direction perpendicular to the one main surface. The shield layer is not provided in the recess of the sealing resin layer.

A module that has excellent heat dissipation performance and enables height reduction easily is provided. The module includes a wiring substrate, a plurality of components mounted on the top surface of the wiring substrate, a plurality of heat dissipation members, a sealing resin layer laminated on the top surface of the wiring substrate, and a shield film that covers surfaces of the sealing resin layer. The heat dissipation member is formed into a strip-shaped sheet. In addition, both end portions of the heat dissipation member are in contact with the top surface of the wiring substrate and also with the components disposed between the both end portions. The heat dissipation member thereby forms a heat dissipation path that transmits heat generated by the component to the wiring substrate.

Disclosed is a positive electrode material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries, which comprises a porous body composed of a material containing a polyanion. Also disclosed is a method for producing such a positive electrode material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries. When a carbon coating is formed on the surface of a material containing a polyanion of lithium iron phosphate or the like by a conventional method, the capacity during low rate discharge is improved but the capacity is not sufficient. In the present invention, the positive electrode material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries, which comprises a porous body composed of a material containing a polyanion, has a structure wherein the inner walls of the pores of the porous body are provided with a layered carbon, for improving the discharge capacity.

Disclosed is a mixed material of lithium iron phosphate and carbon, which contains secondary particles as aggregates of lithium iron phosphate primary particles and a fibrous carbon which is present inside the secondary particles. An electrode containing such a mixed material, a battery comprising such an electrode, a method for producing such a mixed material, and a method for producing a battery are also disclosed.

The invention provides a polyanion-based positive active material which can improve storage stability (especially, high temperature storage stability), charge and discharge cycle performance and the like of a lithium secondary battery, and a lithium secondary battery using the same. The positive active material for a lithium ion secondary battery contains lithium iron cobalt phosphate represented by the general formula: LiFeCoPO(0&#x3c;x&#x2266;0.019, 0&#x2266;y&#x2266;1.2). By using the positive active material for a lithium secondary battery, high temperature storage stability and charge and discharge cycle performance can be improved in comparison with a case where LiFePOcontaining no Co is used. By using the positive active material, a lithium ion secondary battery can be suitable for applications in fields of electric automobiles and industrial batteries in which long lives, high capacities, and high output powers are required.

A positive active material is provided which can inhibit side reactions between the positive electrode and an electrolyte even at a high potential and which, when applied to a battery, can improve charge/discharge cycle performance without impairing battery performances even in storage in a charged state. Also provided are: a process for producing the active material; a positive electrode for lithium secondary batteries which employs the active material; and a lithium secondary battery which has improved charge/discharge cycle performance while retaining intact battery performances even after storage in a charged state and which can exhibit excellent charge/discharge cycle performance even when used at a high upper-limit voltage. It is produced by, e.g., a process which comprises: producing base particles containing lithium and able to dope and release lithium ions; and then imparting an element in Group 3 of the periodic table to the base particles so that the element can be present on at least part of that part of the base particles which is able to come into contact with an electrolyte.

A positive active material is provided which can give a battery having a high energy density and excellent high-rate discharge performance and inhibited from decreasing in battery performance even in the case of high-temperature charge. Also provided is a non-aqueous electrolyte battery employing the positive active material. The positive active material contains a composite oxide which is constituted of at least lithium (Li), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni), cobalt (Co), and oxygen (O) and is represented by the following chemical composition formula: LiMnNiCoO(wherein 0&#x3c;a&#x2266;1.3, |b&#x2212;c|&#x2266;0.05, 0.6&#x2266;d&#x3c;1, 1.7&#x2266;e&#x2266;2.3, and b+c+d=1). The non-aqueous electrolyte battery has a positive electrode containing the positive active material, a negative electrode, and a non-aqueous electrolyte.

The values a, b, and c are within such a range that in a ternary phase diagram showing the relationship among these, (a, b, c) is present on the perimeter of or inside the quadrilateral ABCD defined by point A (0.5, 0.5, 0), point B (0.55, 0.45, 0), point C (0.55, 0.15, 0.30), and point D (0.15, 0.15, 0.7) as vertexes, and 0.95&#x3c;x/(a+b+c)&#x3c;1.35.
