A small-sized photographing apparatus in which a single display device performs both of a viewfinder and monitor display. The apparatus includes a body having a viewfinder window; the display device, the display surface of which can be observed from outside of the body; a pair of reflection mirrors inside the body; and a member for moving one of the reflection mirrors between a reflection position at which a beam of light from the display surface of the display device is reflected so that the beam is guided towards the viewfinder window, and a non-reflection position which is different from the reflection position.

A field frame changeover mechanism suitable for a single-lens reflex camera, which allows clear confirmation of the photo range without increasing the size of the camera. The mechanism has darkening plates movable between a darkening position where the plates cover a part of the focusing screen and an open position where the focusing screen is uncovered by the plates. When the mirror which reflects the light transmitted from the photo-taking lens of the camera to the optical system of the viewfinder of the camera moves from an observation position located in the path of light transmitted through the photo-taking lens to a photo-taking position, the darkening plates retract from the locus of the mirror's movement in a correlated manner.

Field frame changeover mechanism for viewfinder

A waterproof construction of a camera in which a portion of a member which is to be fixed to an exterior surface of a body frame of the camera is exposed from an opening provided on a body cover covering the body frame. In this construction, the member is retained to the internal surface of the body cover via a seal member such that a gap between the member and the body cover is sealed. The body cover retaining the member is attached to the body frame by screws.

Waterproof construction for camera with carrying strap

A camera, which is waterproof, having a relatively complicated three-dimensional configuration in which a cover thereof is constituted by a plurality of cover elements. A top cover 20, a front cover 30 and a side cover 40 are connected at the inside to form a first cover group. Then a main body 50 of the camera is connected to the first cover group to form a half completed body. A second cover group which is constituted by connecting a rear cover 60 to a bottom cover 70, and a lid 80, are connected to the half completed body. Each connection part therebetween has a rib and a groove corresponding to the rib. A packing is inserted into the groove to seal the groove and rib. Thus, a cover structure with a relatively complicated three-dimensional configuration as having a projecting grip, a pop-up flash, or the like, is possible to be made. At time of repair, for example, it is possible to get an access to the inner mechanisms of the camera, only by removing the second cover group from the camera body.
