A release switch is directly activated by a self-timer button, and a shutter release button first activates a photometric switch, then the release switch. The self-timer operation is carried out in response to the activation of only the release switch, a photometric operation is carried out in response to the activation of only the photometric switch, and a shutter release operation is carried out in response to the secuential activation of both the photometric switch and the release switch.

A brake apparatus includes a reciprocally rotating member which reciprocally rotates by an angular displacement smaller than 360.degree.. Two cam surfaces of different shapes are formed on the reciprocally rotating member. A brake drum rotates in association with the reciprocally rotating member. A brake lever is provided with a control arm which engages with a cam surface, and a brake arm which engages with the brake drum. The brake lever swings the brake arm toward or away from the brake drum in accordance with the shape of a cam surface. The control arm of the brake lever can elastically deform, so that it can be located in a position in which it can selectively engage with one of the cam surfaces at the same phase of rotation of the reciprocally rotating member during the forward and reverse rotations thereof.

A barrier device has an opening, through which a photographing lens of a camera is exposed, and first and second barrier members to open and close the opening. The first barrier member is moved along the plate to cover less than a half of the opening. The second barrier member is moved along the plate to cover the remaining part of the opening, the remaining part not being covered by the first barrier member. An operation member is provided for moving the first barrier member. A lever is rotatably supported by a support plate by which the first and second barrier members are movably supported. One end portion of the lever is connected to the first barrier member, and another end portion of the lever is connected to the second barrier member. A distance between one end portion and the pivot portion of the lever is shorter than a distance between another end portion and the pivot portion.

Switching device for a camera

A back cover lock mechanism of a camera. The camera has a camera body that includes side walls, a front surface arranged to incorporate a photographing lens, and a back cover that is pivoted to the camera body. The back cover lock mechanism has a first hook member provided at a predetermined portion of the back cover, and a second hook member provided inside one of the walls of the camera body. The second hook member is arranged to detachably engage the first hook member. A covering member for movably supporting the second hook member is provided inside one of the side walls of the camera body. A supporting member supports the covering member, the supporting member being provided inside one of the side walls of the camera body so that the second hook member is placed between the covering member and one of the side walls, whereby the second hook member is movable between a locked position and an unlocked position.

A camera equipped with a focal point correction apparatus has a camera body including a film loading portion, a position detecting mechanism, an optical system including a picture taking lens, a shutter, a lens driving mechanism, a pressure plate, a light measuring device, a distance measuring device, a memory, a shutter driving mechanism, a release switch, and a control unit. The position detecting mechanism has a light projecting unit and a light receiving unit and is used to measure the position of the light-sensitive surface of the film in the direction of the optical axis. The focal point correction apparatus includes the position detecting mechanism, the optical system, the memory and the control unit. When a photograph is taken, focal point correction is carried out by determining a correction value for correcting the extension setting of the picture taking lens based on measurements of the position of the film carried out by the position detecting mechanism.

An automatic focusing camera having a strobe, a light source for emitting visible light having a first wavelength, a light source for emitting light having a second wavelength, and a lens. The visible light and the second wavelength light are transmitted through the lens, and projected towards an object to be photographed.

Electronically controlled camera

A camera is provided with an object distance measuring sensor for detecting an object distance, an object brightness measuring sensor for detecting an object brightness, a photographing lens, a position of which along an optical axis is variably set, and a diaphragm mechanism having an aperture value that is variably set. A single movable control member, that is moved in one direction upon a shutter release operation, a first cam for setting the position of the photographing lens in accordance with the movement of the control member, and a second cam for setting the aperture value of the diaphragm mechanism in accordance with the movement of the control member, are also provided. The camera also comprises a stop mechanism for stopping movement of the control member at an arbitrary position, and a control circuit for actuating the stop mechanism so that the control member stops in a position where the position of the photographing lens corresponds to the object distance detected by the object distance measuring sensor, and the aperture value of the diaphragm mechanism corresponds to the object brightness detected by the object brightness measuring sensor when the shutter release operation is executed.

An Albada finder has a negative objective lens and a positive eyepiece lens. A frame is formed inside the area of the object-side surface of the positive eyepiece lens and a partial reflection area is formed on the eyepiece-side surface of the negative objective lens. The partial reflection area reflects an image of the frame. The frame is formed to enclose a small area of the object-side surface of the eyepiece lens while the partial reflection area is formed to enclose a small area of the eyepiece-side surface of the objective lens. Substantially all of the remaining area of the eyepiece-side surface of the negative objective lens not enclosed by the partial reflection area fully transmits all light incident on the surface.

Albada finder

A camera having a mechanism for varying a picture image includes, an aperture frame which defines an aperture corresponding to the image area, and a pair of light intercepting plates which are rotatably supported by respective shafts on opposite sides of the aperture. The pair of light intercepting plates move between an operative position, in which the light intercepting plates partly cover the aperture, and a retracted position, in which the light intercepting plates are retracted from the aperture. The operative position corresponds to a small image area, and the retracted position corresponds to a large image area. The camera further includes an associating rod member, which is provided in the vicinity of one end of the shafts of the light intercepting plates and movable in a direction substantially perpendicular to the shafts, and an actuating member, which rotates the light intercepting plates in association with the movement of the rod member.

Camera having a picture image area and field of view varying mechanism

A built-in flash system is disclosed which includes a housing chamber provided in the upper front of a penta-house of a finder optical system, and a casing provided in the housing chamber and having a flashlight emitter arranged so as to be movable between a projecting position where the casing is projected for light emission and a housing position where the casing is housed in said housing chamber, the casing is arranged to be moved between the projecting position and the housing position by a linkage mechanisms disposed at sides of said built-in flash system.

In a camera according to the present invention, a focusing device for driving a focusing lens and a shutter device are driven with a single drive source by utilizing a transmitting mechanism which transmits the driving force of the drive source to a selected one of the focusing member and the shutter member.

A waterproof device for a cover in which a camera body is housed, closing off an inside and an outside of the cover in a watertight manner. A first sealing member is disposed between a rear cover, included in the cover, and a front cover provided on one side of the rear cover. A second sealing member is disposed between the rear cover and a back lid provided on the other side of the rear cover. A connecting member is extended through a hold formed in the rear cover, to connect the first sealing member and the second sealing member. The connecting member, the first sealing member, and the second sealing member are formed as one body.

A built-in flash system is disclosed which includes a housing chamber provided in the upper front of a penta-house of a finder optical system, and a casing provided in the housing chamber and having a flashlight emitter arranged so as to be movable between a projecting position where the casing is projected for light emission and a housing position where the casing is housed in said housing chamber, the casing is arranged to be moved between the projecting position and the housing position by a linkage mechanisms disposed at the sides of said built-in flash system.
