The invention realizes easy manufacturing of a flat container molded by blow molding, in which the wall thickness of a container wall is made uniform, and which provides improved mechanical strength, heat resistance, etc. and has a good appearance. The flat container obtained by the blow molding of a polyester resin is characterized in that the container has a flatness ratio of not less than 1.3, and in that its body has a wall thickness ratio of a maximum wall thickness to a minimum wall thickness of not more than 1.6, a difference in elongation between a maximally stretched portion and a minimally stretched portion of not more than 150% in a tensile test at 95&#xb0; C., a crystallinity of not less than 30%, and a difference in TMA non-load change between a maximally stretched portion and a minimally stretched portion of not more than 500 &#x3bc;m at 75&#xb0; C. and 100&#xb0; C.

Flat container comprising thermoplastic resin and method for molding the same

A resin-coated metal sheet comprising a metal substrate and a thermoplastic resin layer formed on the surface of the metal substrate, wherein the thermoplastic resin layer comprises a polyester consisting chiefly of a polyethylene terephthalate and an ethylene polymer, and contains an ionomer resin as well as a tocopherol or a derivative thereof. The resin-coated metal sheet exhibits corrosion resistance, shock resistance (dent resistance) and resistance against high temperature and humidity, and withstands the retort-sterilization and the aging in a hot vendor or the like after the retort-sterilization.

A resin-coated seamless can satisfying such properties as high degree of workability, adhesiveness of film, resistance against high temperatures and wet heated condition, corrosion resistance and resistance against being dented. A device for printing an image onto a surface, such as food containers, employs a laser that is scanned across a surface to produce a latent image on a charged photosensitive surface formed on the surface. The surface is moved relative to the laser source while the laser is activated and deactivated according to a pattern of signal pulses from a control circuit. The device thus forms a raster image. To form very fine images, the control circuit must produce pulses with very small steps in duration. The control circuit of the present invention divides a digital value representing a duration of firing of the laser into high and low order bit sequences. The high order bits, representing a value M, are applied to a counter that generates a first pulse M clock cycles long. The low order bits and the first pulse are applied to a delay circuit. The delay circuit generates a delayed version of the first pulse, which is delayed by an amount represented by the low order bits. The first and second pulse signals are logically ORed to produce the control pulse for the laser.

Disclosed is a hot-melt adhesive which comprises a copolyester of a dibasic acid component comprising 70 to 97 mole % of terephthalic acid and other dibasic acid with a polyhydric alcohol component comprising 70 to 97 mole % of 1,4-butane-diol, 3 to 30 mole % of diethylene glycol and up to 20 mole % of other polyhydric alcohol having 2 to 5 carbon atoms, said copolyester having a reduced viscosity of at least 0.6 dl/g as measured at a temperature of 30.degree. C. in a phenol/tetrachloroethane mixed solvent having a phenol/tetrachloroethane weight ratio of 60/40 at a polymer concentration of 0.25 g/100 ml, a glass transition temperature of at least 31.degree. This hot-melt adhesive is excellent in the operation adaptability, and in the form of a film, the adhesive has an appropriate rigidity and a good dimension stability. Disclosed is a paint for a can which comprises an epoxy resin component formed by condensation of a dihydroxyl compound with an epihalohydrin and a curing agent component, said epoxy resin component containing terminal .alpha.-glycol groups at a concentration of 0.05 to 0.60 equivalent per Kg of the resin. This paint provides a coating capable of retaining a high adhesion even with the lapse of time and resisting a severe treatment such as retort sterilization. When this paint is applied to a bonded can, leakage of the content from the side seam with the lapse of time can be effectively prevented. When this paint is applied to a can provided with an easy-open can lid, occurrence of the enamel feather can be prevented at the time of opening the lid.
