An insecticidal composition comprising, as an active ingredient, an optically active .alpha.-cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl 2-(4-chlorophenyl)isovalerate and an inert carrier having a strong insecticidal activity without any appreciable toxicity to plants as well as to mammals.
