Method for producing &#x3b4;-aminopentadienoate derivatives

A pharmaceutical composition for treatment of cancer in an animal comprising: (A) a therapeutically effective amount of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by the General Formula (I). ##STR1## wherein Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2, which may be the same or different, each represents an atomic group necessary to form a 5- or 6-membered ring; R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, which may be the same or different, each represents an alkyl group or an aryl group; L.sub.1 and L.sub.2 each represents a methine group or a substituted methine group; X represents a pharmaceutically acceptable anion; k represents a number necessary for electrical charge balance; n represents 0 or 1; and (B) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent.

Composition and method for treating cancer

There is disclosed a silver halide photographic material in which a residual color can be compatible with a sensitivity in a development processing. The photographic material comprises a support and provided thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer containing at least one of the methine compounds represented by the following Formula (I) and at least one of the compounds represent-ed by the following Formula (II): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents --(CH.sub.2).sub.r --CONHSO.sub.2 --R.sup.3, --(CH.sub.2).sub.s --SO.sub.2 NHCO--R.sup.4, --(CH.sub.2).sub.t --CONHCO--R.sup.5, or --(CR.sub.2).sub.u --SO.sub.2 NHSO.sub.2 --R.sup.6, in which R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 each represent an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, or an amino group and r, s, t and u each repre-sent an integer of 1 to 5; R.sup.2 is synonymous with R.sup.1 or represents an alkyl group which is different from R.sup.1 ; Z.sup.1 and Z.sup.2 may be the same or different and represent the group of non-metallic atoms necessary to form a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring; L.sub.1, L.sub.2 and L.sub.3 each represent a methine group; n.sub.1 represents 0, 1 or 2; X.sub.1 represents an anion; k.sub.1 represents a number necessary to adjust a charge in a molecule to 0; and p and q each represent 0 or 1. ##STR2## wherein R.sub.7 represents an aliphatic group or an aromatic group; R.sub.8 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, an amino group, or a hydrazino group; G.sub.1 represents a --CO-- group, a --SO.sub.2 -- group, a --SO-- group, a --P(O)R.sub.9 -- group, a --CO--CO-- group, a thiocarbonyl group, or an iminomethylene group; both of A.sub.1 and A.sub.2 represent a hydrogen atom, or either of them represents a hydrogen atom and another represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkylsulfonyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted arylsulfonyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted acyl group; and R.sub.9 is selected from the same groups as those defined for R.sub.8 and may be different from R.sub.8.

Silver halide photographic material

A methine compound represented by the following formula (I): ##STR1## wherein Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2 each represent a non-metallic atomic group necessitated for forming a five-membered or six-membered, nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represent an alkyl group, X represents an inorganic anion, k represents a number necessitated for adjusting the electric charge of the molecule to zero, and n represents 0 or 1; with the proviso that when n is 1, the five-membered or six-membered, nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring formed by Z.sub.2 is cationic, k is not zero and X represents chloride ion. The compound is useful as a spectral sensitizing dye and an antitumor agent.

Water-soluble methine derivatives of thiazole

Disclosed is a novel silver halide photographic material comprising a support having thereon (a) a layer containing at least one methine compound represented by the following general formula (I) and (b) a layer containing at least one methine compound represented by the following general formula (II), (III), (IV) or (V): ##STR1## wherein the variables in the formulas are defined in the detailed description. In a preferred embodiment, the silver halide photographic material comprises at least one methine compound represented by general formula (I) and at least one methine compound represented by general formula (II) or (V) in the same layer.

The silver halide photographic material may comprise at least one methine compound represented by the general formula (I) and at least one water-soluble dye.

Disclosed is a silver halide color photographic photosensitive material in which the spectral sensitivity in the green short wavelength region is increased and which has excellent storage stability. The photosensitive material is sensitized by a selenium sensitizer represented by formula (I). Also, a green light sensitive photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer has been spectrally sensitized with a sensitizing dye represented by formula (II). ##STR1##

Silver halide color photographic photosensitive materials

The present invention provides a silver halide color photographic photosensitive material which has high saturation, excellent color reproduction and excellent graininess, the material comprising a silver halide emulsion layer which imparts an interlayer effect to a red sensitive silver halide emulsion layer is spectrally sensitized with a sensitizing dye represented by formula (I) and contains a development inhibitor releasing compound represented by formula (II). ##STR1##

Silver halide photographic light-sensitive material

Disclosed is a silver halide photographic material comprising at least one compound (merocyanine dye) represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein Z represents nonmetal atoms necessary to complete a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring; X represents non-metal atoms necessary to complete a 5- or 6-membered acidic nucleus; R.sup.2 represents --(CH.sub.2).sub.r --CONHSO.sub.2 --R.sup.3, --(CH.sub.2).sub.s --SO.sub.2 NHCO--R.sup.4, --(CH.sub.2).sub.t --CONHCO--R.sup.5 or --(CH.sub.2).sub.u --SO.sub.2 NHSO.sub.2 --R.sup.6 ; R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 each represent an alkyl group, an alkoxy group or an amino group; r, s, t and u each represent an integer from 1 to 5; R.sup.1 has the same meaning as R.sup.2 or represents an alkyl group substituted by a sulfo or carboxyl group; p represents 0 or 1; L.sub.1 and L.sub.2 each represent a methine group; and n represents 0, 1, 2 or 3.

Disclosed is a novel silver halide photographic material is provided comprising a support having thereon (a) a layer containing at least one methine compound represented by the following general formula (I) and (b) a layer containing at least one methine compound represented by the following general formula (II), (III), (IV) or (V): ##STR1## wherein the variables in the formulas are defined in the detailed description. In a preferred embodiment, the silver halide photographic material comprises at least one methine compound represented by general formula (I) and at least one methine compound represented by general formula (II) or (V) in the same layer.

A silver halide photographic light-sensitive material comprising a support having thereon at least one light emulsion layer containing (A) at least one of the methine compounds represented by the following formula (I) and (B) at least one of the methine compounds represented by the following formula (II) or (III): ##STR1## wherein Z.sup.1, Z.sup.2, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, L.sub.1 -L.sub.8, p, q, k.sub.1 -k.sub.3, n.sub.1 -n.sub.3 and X.sub.1 -X .sub.3 are as defined in the specification.

Disclosed is a silver halide photographic material for medical use, in which the coated amount of silver per surface of the support is 2.8 g/m.sup.2 or less, the silver halide grains in the coated silver halide emulsion layer have a silver chloride content of 10 to 50 mol %, they contain 10.sup.-8 mol or more, per mol of silver, of an iridium compound and they have been spectrally-sensitized to be sensitive to rays of from 600 to 700 nm wavelength range. The material may be processed by rapid processing and has a high sensitivity and high covering power. Also disclosed is a silver halide photographic material for laser exposure, in which the emulsion contains 10.sup.-8 mol or more, per mol of silver, of an iridium compound and is spectrally-sensitized with a sensitizing dye of formula (III): ##STR1## where V.sub.1, V.sub.2, V.sub.3, V.sub.4, V.sub.5, V.sub.6, V.sub.7 and V.sub.8 each represent a hydrogen atom or a monovalent substituent, and they satisfy the following conditions:

Silver halide photographic material and method of processing the same

Disclosed herein is a silver halide photographic light-sensitive material having at least one silver halide emulsion layer formed on a support. Said light-sensitive material having at least one layer contains a regular silver halide emulsion, a tabular silver halide emulsion containing tabular silver halide grains having an average diameter/average thickness ratio of 2 or more, which occupy 50% or more of the total projected area of all silver halide grains, and a silver halide emulsion containing internal latent-image silver halide grains each chemically sensitized to the depth of less than 0.02 .mu.m from the surface of the grain. Each of these emulsions contains at least one methine compound represented by the following formula (I): ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is --(CH.sub.2).sub.r --CONHSO.sub.2 --R.sub.3 or --(CH.sub.2).sub.s --SO.sub.2 NHCO--R.sub.4, where R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are an alkyl group, r and s are an integer ranging from 1 to 5; R.sup.2 is a sulfoalkyl group; Z.sup.1 and Z.sup.2 are non-metal atom groups required for forming a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic group; p and q are 0 or 1; L.sub.1, L.sub.2 and L.sub.3 are methine groups; and m is 0, 1 or 2, wherein said at least one methine compound has been added at 50.degree. C. or more in any step from a step of preparing of the emultion to a step of coating of the emulsion.

Disclosed is a silver halide photographic material comprising a compound represented by the general formula (I), (II), or a salt thereof or a compound represented by the general formula (III), with these groups being defined as in the specification: ##STR1## also disclosed is a method for the processing of a silver halide photographic material, which comprises processing a silver halide photographic material in the presence of a compound represented by the general formula (I) or (II) or a salt thereof or a compound represented by the general formula (III).
