An air-supply module including an air cleaner case, a throttle body, a surge tank, manifold pipes and other components is integrated into one single unit. The module is mounted as a whole on an internal combustion engine by simply connecting a flange formed at an eigne side end of the manifold pipes to intake ports of the engine. Bolts sticking out of the intake ports are inserted into mounting holes formed on the flange, and nuts are screwed onto the bolts by a nut runner. The mounting holes on the flange are located between the manifold pipes so that the nut runner can reach the nuts directly from the outside of the module without disassembling any components already assembled into the module. Other components including the air cleaner case are disposed in the module to secure a tool space and not to interfere with the mounting operation.

Air-supply module for internal combustion engine

An air induction unit is composed of an air filter, a resinous intake manifold for inducting air filtered by the air filter into intake ports of the engine, a resinous case and a resinous cap. The air filter, intake manifold and fuel injectors are disposed inside the resinous case and the resinous cap. The resinous case and the resinous cap have respectively double-wall structure composed of inside walls and outside walls and noise-and-heat-insulation members between the inside walls and the outside walls.

Air induction unit for internal combustion engine

Fuel supply devices for an engine are disposed within an intake duct located upstream of an air cleaner. Thus, the fuel supply devices such as fuel injection valves and a fuel supply pipe are always cooled by intake air flow while the engine is being driven. In addition, heat conducted from the engine to the fuel supply device can be insulated by the intake duct when the engine is stopped. Further, since the intake duct located upstream of the air cleaner does not dispose functional parts such as a filter therein, a high degree of freedom for mounting the intake duct on the engine is maintained so that the intake duct can be easily disposed at the position where the fuel supply devices are located.

Intake duct and intake system for internal combustion engine

An air cleaner, a throttle, a surge tank and air-intake pipes of an intake manifold are combined in a unit and a fuel delivery pipe and fuel injectors are installed in the unit before the unit of an air-intake device is assembled to an internal combustion engine. Cases of the above members are integrally formed thereby to reduce the size of the device and material used for the device. A dusty-side of the air cleaner is disposed under a filter element to prevent dust and water from getting into the clean-side of the filter element when the element is removed to have serviced or inspected.

Air intake device for an internal combustion engine

A supporting structure for supporting an air-cleaner assembly on a throttle body of an internal combustion engine provided with a fuel injector arranged at a center of an intake passage. A bridge member has at least two legs. The leg has one end fixed to the throttle body and the other end extending radially inwardly toward a central axis of the intake passage formed in the throttle body. The other ends of the legs are joined to each other at a joining portion. The joining portion is abutted against an end of the fuel injector opposite to a fuel injection port thereof. A fixing device cooperates with the bridge member to fix the air-cleaner assembly with respect to the throttle body.

Supporting structure for air-cleaned assembly

A thermostatic valve for compensating for the change in the intake air temperature of an internal combustion engine. The thermostatic valve has a temperature detector attached to a housing provided with a port in communication with atmosphere, a pipe in communication with a vacuum motor, a pipe in communication with the portion of the intake passage downstream from the throttle valve of carburetor and a pipe in communication with the float chamber of the carburetor and also with the air cleaner of the engine. A first valve element adapted to be operated by the temperature detector, and a second valve element adapted to be operated by the first valve element are disposed in the housing and are pressed against respective valve seats formed in the housing by means of springs. The introduction of vacuum in the intake passage into the vacuum motor for adjusting the intake air temperature is controlled in response to the change in the intake air temperature. At the same time, the shortage of intake air attributable to a rise of the intake air temperature is compensated by an additional supply of air which is made directly to the portion of the intake passage downstream from the throttle valve, upon detect of the rise of the intake air temperature.

Thermostatic valve for compensating air fuel mixture for air temperature

A thermostatic valve for intake air temperature compensation for an internal combustion engine includes a housing formed with first, second, and third openings leading, respectively, to the atmosphere, a negative pressure motor, and the intake manifold of the engine. To this housing is secured a temperature sensor including a piston rod to be actuated by a thermally expandable element whose volume increases or decreases with a change in temperature. A valve element to be moved into and out of contact with a valve seat by the piston rod of the temperature sensor is accommodated in a casing. Inside the casing a holed partition member is disposed between the first and third openings and between the second and third openings, and a check valve designed to open in one direction only is located between the partition member and the third opening.

Thermostatic valve for intake air temperature compensation for internal

A thermostatic valve mounted in an air cleaner has an inlet connected to an intake manifold of an engine and an outlet connected to a negative pressure chamber of a negative pressure motor for actuating a switching valve pivotally mounted in a throat of the air cleaner, by the opening of the switching valve warmed air around an exhaust manifold of the engine being introduced into the air cleaner for the purpose of ensuring a smooth starting and operation of the engine. The thermostatic valve, for controlling the introduction of the warmed air as well as an amount of additional air fed to the engine as a function of the temperature in the air cleaner, has inside thereof a first passageway communicating the inlet with the inside thereof, a second passageway communicating the outlet with the inside and a third passageway communicating the inside with the air cleaner. A valve member is operatively disposed in both of the first and third passageways for respectively controlling the opening area of the first passageway and the opening and closing of the third passageway, so that the amount of the additional air is controlled through the first passageway and the application of the negative pressure from the intake manifold to the negative pressure motor is controlled by the closure and opening of the third passageway.

Temperature responsive device for internal combustion engine

A thermostatic valve, used in an engine for introducing warmed air to the engine and air to a slow-port passage of a carburetor, has a valve casing defining therein first and second compartments. A first valve member is disposed in the first compartment to control the introduction of the intake vacuum or the atmospheric pressure to a negative pressure motor mounted on a throat of an air cleaner. A second valve member is disposed in the second compartment to control the communication between a float chamber and the slow-port passage of the carburetor when the temperature of the air introduced into the engine exceeds a preset value so as to prevent excessive richness of an air-fuel mixture.

Temperature responsive device for internal combustion engines

This specification discloses an exhaust gas cleaning device which is intended for removing harmful substances from exhaust gases of internal combustion engine, especially for removing carbon particles or the like. The device has a body accomodating a filter element adapted to catch the particles in the exhaust gases. The device is attached to the engine as if it were an exhaust manifold so that the clogging particles are conveniently burned by hot gases, whereby the filter element is conveniently recovered.
