Heart stimulating device comprising a stimulation pulse generator arranged in a stimulator housing, where the heart stimulating device is coupled to a plurality of stimulation and sensing electrodes arranged at one or many leads, the electrodes being adapted to be arranged in connection with the heart to stimulate the heart. The device further comprises a sensing unit adapted to sense electrical heart tissue responses to applied electrical stimulation pulses via said electrodes. The pulse generator is adapted to generate stimulation pulses to be applied to the heart tissue by different electrodes, and for each of the applied pulses resulting in a depolarization wave in the heart tissue a depolarization wave velocity parameter of the wave is determined by the sensing unit and stored in a memory unit. The stored wave velocity parameters, related to different stimulating electrodes, are compared to each other in a comparison unit and the comparison is used to adapt a stimulation mode when stimulating the heart to optimize the hemodynamic performance of the heart.

An electronic implantable device with a power saving circuit incorporates a radio frequency receiver with high power consumption. The first power radio receiver of high power is normally turned off during a period of inactivity. When an analyzer forming part of a second radio receiver and coupled to the first radio receiver detects a predetermined identification code in a received radio frequency signal received by the second radio receiver, it outputs a signal to turn on the first power receiver.

Implantable RF telemetry devices with power saving mode

An analog-to-digital converter for ultra low power applications, such as pacemakers, has a digitizer for producing a digital output signal from a sampled analog input signal. The digitizer is normally in off state to save current. A sample-and-hold circuit stores a plurality of successive samples of the analog input signal. A control element turns on the digitizer in response to an activation signal, sequentially applies the stored samples to the digitizer in response to the activation signal and thus reconstructs the signal as it existed prior to the activation signal.

Ultra low power analog to digital converter

A device for affixing an elongate contact pin on an electrode lead for connection to a medical implant, such as a heart stimulator, contains an elongate connector part with an opening at one end into which the contact pin can be inserted. The connector part has an affixing part which, when acted on by the contact pin, can move in the connector part's longitudinal direction between a contact pin-affixing position and a contact pin-release position.

A detector for sensing events in living tissue, such as electrical events in a heart, contains a microprocessor functioning as comparator which compares an input signal corresponding to electrical signals from the living tissue with a defined signal detection level, and an event is deemed to have occurred if the input signal exceeds the defined detection level. More reliable detection of events in the presence of noise is achieved by also providing an integrator which generates the input signal to the comparator by integrating electrical signals obtained from the tissue, the comparator then comparing the integrated signal with a detection level selected for use with the integrated signal.

Detector for sensing events in living tissue

For generating a signal corresponding to the respiration volume per unit of time of a patient, a signal component correlated with the respiration is filtered out of a measured impedance signal acquired in the region of the heart of the patient, and the zero-axis crossings of this signal component are detected and the maximum values respectively arising in between two successive pairs of zero-axis crossings are identified in terms of amplitude. These maxima are added during a prescribed time interval to form a value corresponding to the respiration volume per unit of time.
