Methods and techniques are described for supporting location services for a user equipment (UE) in which the UE evaluate available positioning methods based on one or more criteria to determine a prioritized positioning method and provides an indication of the prioritized positioning method to a location server. The UE may additionally provide an indication of the criteria upon which the prioritized positioning method was determined. The UE may send the indication of the prioritized positioning method before the UE performs the positioning measurements and the location server may accept or reject the prioritized positioning method. The UE may alternatively send the indication of the prioritized positioning method and the criteria used in the priority determination after the UE performs the positioning measurements. The location server may use the prioritized positioning method and the criteria used in the priority determination, e.g., in subsequent positioning requests for the UE.

Systems and methods for selection of positioning based on user equipment considerations

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from abase station, an indicator of a data split between a New Radio (NR) channel and a legacy channel. Accordingly, the UE may transmit, to the base station, an indicator of a modification of the data split based at least in part on a ratio of an amount of data flowing over the NR channel to a total amount of data flowing over the NR channel and the legacy channel. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE may transmit, to the base station, an indicator of a modification of the data split based at least in part on an indicator of a quality of the legacy channel. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Adjusting data split between new radio channels and legacy channels

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may measure a first amount of reflected power associated with a first antenna of the UE and measure a second amount of reflected power associated with a second antenna of the UE. The UE may adjust an input power for the first antenna based at least in part on the first amount of reflected power or the second amount of reflected power and may perform a transmission via the first antenna using the adjusted input power for the first antenna. For example, the UE may increase the input power for the first antenna by an amount that is based at least in part on the first amount of reflected power.

Coherent uplink MIMO

A method of wireless communication is performed by a user equipment (UE) that has a first subscriber identity module (SIM) and a second SIM. The method of wireless communication includes operating in a mode in which the first SIM is associated with a first subscription and in which the second SIM is associated with a second subscription, the first and second subscriptions being active at a same time and sharing radio frequency (RF) resources of the UE; designating the first subscription as having a higher priority status than the second subscription, analyzing a signal condition associated with the second subscription, and changing the higher priority status to apply to the second subscription based on the signal condition.

Systems and methods to designate subscription priority to set a gain state in a multi-subscriber identity module device

Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and apparatus for dynamically assigning signal paths to multiple subscriptions in a user equipment (UE) that supports dual subscription dual active (DSDA) communications. The dynamic assignment of signal paths provide dynamic implementation of power classes for uplink transmissions based on communication parameters of the networks associated with the dual subscriptions.

Dynamic power class assignments

Techniques to maximize connectivity to a preferred radio access technology (RAT) (e.g., 5G NR) over a less preferred RAT (e.g., 4G LTE) are disclosed. When a user equipment (UE) is camped on a preferred RAT connectivity capable cell (e.g., NR cell, EUTRA dual-connectivity (ENDC) cell), offsets or biases may be applied to delay triggering of a cell reselection. When UE is camped on a non-preferred RAT connectivity capable cell, offset(s) may be applied to accelerate triggering of the cell reselection. When cell reselection is triggered, offsets or biases may be applied to favor reselection to preferred RAT connectivity capable cell over a non-preferred RAT connectivity capable cell.

Key performance indicator improvements in wireless communication

In techniques disclosed allow a user equipment (UE) that receives location assistance data to determine a preferred bandwidth part (BWP) with which reference signals from one or more base stations can be measured for position determination of the UE. The selection of the preferred BWP can be based on a determination of the frequency and bandwidth of reference signals to be transmitted by the one or more base stations over the course of a positioning station. The preferred BWP may be the BWP, of a plurality of candidate BWPs, that allows for a desired number of reference signal measurements to be taken without retuning a transceiver of the UE.

User equipment (UE) centric position techniques in 5G new radio with multiple bandwidth parts

Methods and techniques are described for enhancing positioning related protocols in order to indicate when one location session is different from another location session. One or more messages provided in a location session by a location server to a user equipment (UE) may include a session indication, such as a session identifier (ID), where a different session ID is provided for each location session. The session indication may be a new session indicator provided in an initial message in a location session or an end session indicator provided in a final message in a location session. An extra message may be sent by the location server indicating that the location session has ended. A correlation ID provided by a network entity to the location server may be included in messages as the session indication, e.g., where a different correlation ID is provided for each location session.

Methods and systems for enhancement of positioning related protocols

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for enhancing vehicle operations safety using coordinating vehicle platooning or enhancing platooning safety against location spoofing attacks. In one example, a source user equipment (UE) detects a potential spoofing event associated with location information being altered in an unauthorized manner, the source UE may transmit a request to a platoon control system (PCS) to join a vehicle platoon. In another example, a first UE associated with a lead vehicle in an existing platoon may detect a potential spoofing event associated with location information being altered in an unauthorized manner. The lead vehicle may transmit to a second UE of another vehicle in the platoon an indication of the detection and a request to exchange the respective roles in the platoon. The PCS may also monitor the conditions of the first and the second UEs, and arrange for the platoon reorganization.

Implementing confidence metrics in vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications

Disclosed are techniques for performing positioning measurements at a mobile device during a positioning session with a serving cell. In an aspect, the mobile device determines to trigger a coverage-enhanced (CE) mode before a positioning session timeout for the positioning session expires, continues performance of the positioning measurements during the positioning session with the serving cell while the mobile device remains connected to the serving cell due to the triggered CE mode, determines whether the positioning measurements have been completed or the positioning session timeout has expired, and responsive to the determination that the positioning measurements have been completed or that the positioning session timeout has expired, reports, to a network entity in the wireless communications network, actual handover measurements to enable the network entity to make a handover determination.

Positioning enhancements for narrowband mobile devices

A method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE) includes: operating in a dual SIM dual active (DSDA) mode with respect to a first subscriber identity module (SIM) and a second SIM; controlling transmit operations of the first SIM and the second SIM according to a time division multiplexed (TDM) priority pattern; performing demodulation reference signal (DMRS) bundling on the first SIM, the first SIM having a higher priority state according to the TDM priority pattern; and deferring a priority switch to give the higher priority state to the second SIM until after the first SIM has completed a repetition of DMRS bundling.

Systems and methods to include demodulation reference signal bundling in multi-subscriber identity module devices

A method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE) may include: performing, for a first subscription, a first handover from a first cell to a second cell; and performing, for a second subscription, a second handover from a third cell to a fourth cell. In some aspects, at least one of the performing the first handover or the performing the second handover is based on: a difference in signal strength between the first cell and the third cell exceeding a first threshold; and a difference in signal strength between the second cell and the fourth cell being equal to or less than the first threshold.

User location aware smart event handling

A method of indicating resources for uplink-based positioning includes: determining whether a UE is within a downlink coverage area of a serving cell, for a first frequency band and a transmit power of the serving cell, and outside an uplink coverage area of the serving cell for the first frequency band and a transmit power of the UE; identifying a second frequency band supported by the UE, the second frequency band including frequencies below a lowest frequency of the first frequency band; and providing at least one PRS indication indicating at least OFDM UL-PRS resources in the second frequency band for the UE based on a determination that the UE is outside the uplink coverage area of the serving cell for the first frequency band and the transmit power of the UE.

Techniques are discussed herein for providing notification messages to a user are provided. An example method of sending an alert message includes receiving a notification from an alerting device, determining a notification recipient associated with the alerting device, determining a location and one or more notification preferences associated with the notification recipient, determining a notification device based on the location and the one or more notification preferences, and sending the alert message to the notification device, wherein the alert message includes an indication of at least one notification preference and the alerting device.
