This invention relates to an antimicrobial composition, more particularly a personal care composition like a soap bar. It more particularly relates to a composition comprising an essential oil compound and a tetra hydroxy alkylene amine compound which interact synergistically to provide the desired result.

Antimicrobial composition

The invention relates to bar composition comprising minimum floor levels of Csoap while minimizing ratio of unsaturated Csoap to caprate. Such bars provide enhanced rapid, antibacterial activity. Disclosed is a soap bar composition comprising: a) 25 to 85%, preferably 35 to 75% by weight of Cto Cfatty acid soap comprising: (i) C10 soap at 8% or 15% or greater, more preferably 16 to 32% by weight of total bar composition; and, (ii) unsaturated Csoap, wherein weight ratio of said unsaturated Csoap to C(caprate) soap is 1.2 to 0.1. b) 1 to 45% organic and inorganic adjuvant materials by weight of the composition; and, c) 5 to 30%, preferably 13 to 28% water by weight of the composition, wherein excess of Csoap to unsaturated Csoap is at least 6%.

The present invention relates to an extruded soap bar composition. It more particularly relates to a soap bar composition which delivers the enhanced antimicrobial benefit to skin while ensuring that the soap bar is easy to extrude. This is achieved by including free fatty acids in the soap bar composition while ensuring that part of the free fatty acid is hydroxy stearic acid.

Also disclosed is a process for making transparent soap bar comprising the steps of: (i) saponification of oils or fatty acids in presence of polyols to get a molten mass, where after complete neutralization, the free alkali content measured as sodium hydroxide is not greater than 0.1%; and (ii) molding said molten mass to get the bar, wherein 0.003 to 0.5 parts fluorescer and 0.05 to 10 parts C2 to C3 alcohol is mixed with said molten mass.
