A method is proposed for a payer, to make a payment to a payee, such as a merchant. The payer's communication device automatically acquires payment facilitation data comprising payee account identification data identifying a payment account associated with the payee and maintained by an acquirer. The payment facilitation data preferably also includes transaction data describing the payment, such as the amount of the payment. From the payment facilitation data, the communication device generates a payment request which is transmitted to an issuer at which the payer maintains a payment account. The issuer communicates with the acquirer, typically via a payment network, to arrange for a payment to be made, and the payment is credited to the payment account associated with the payee, and debited from the payment account associated with the payer. Thus, a payment is effected without the payee ever receiving confidential information about the payer's payment account.

Embodiments provide methods and systems for reading a Quick Response (QR) code displayed in a user device of a user for facilitating a payment transaction. The method includes facilitating display of the QR code on a display screen of the user device. The QR code includes at least a payment related information for a payment transaction. The method also includes initializing a QR capture mode in the user device for capturing the QR code using a capture overlay frame. The method includes reading the QR code within the capture overlay frame to extract the payment related information. The method further includes facilitating the payment transaction based at least on the payment related information extracted by reading the QR code.

Embodiments provide methods and systems for facilitating online shopping while watching multimedia content on an electronic device. The method includes receiving an input, from a controller, from a user interested in purchasing at least one item using a machine-readable code displayed in a scene of the multimedia content. The scene comprising the machine-readable code. The machine-readable code comprising payment information for purchasing the item. The method further includes capturing at least one screenshot of the scene comprising the machine-readable code without interrupting display of the multimedia content. The method also includes identifying the at least one machine-readable code in the at least one screenshot of the scene. Upon identifying the at least one machine-readable code the method includes extracting the at least one machine-readable code from the at least screenshot of the scene for processing a payment based on payment information present in the machine-readable code.

According to a first aspect, there is provided a mobile communication device programmable into a slave mode for remote control by a master mobile communication device, the mobile communication device comprising: at least one processor; at least one memory including computer program code; and a communication port coupled to the processor the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the mobile communication device at least to: receive, through the communication port, a signal effected by the master mobile communication device to initialise remote control of the mobile communication device; establish an identity of the master mobile communication device in response to reception of the signal; determine whether the identity is registered in a database containing identities that are authorised to gain remote control of the mobile communication device; detect, upon successful identity determination, whether the signal is paired with an access code granting remote control of the mobile communication device; validate the detected access code; and grant remote control of the mobile communication device to the master mobile communication device after successful validation of the detected access code.
