One example includes a relay device that is comprised of a galvanic isolation barrier, a protection control and power extractor, and an electronic switch. The galvanic isolation barrier is coupled to an input of the relay device and receives a switch control signal and outputs another switch control signal. The protection control and power extractor is coupled to an output of the galvanic isolation barrier. The protection control and power extractor extracts power from a power supply coupled to the relay device. The protection control and power extractor is responsive to the other switch control signal and generates a protection signal in response to a determination of an operating parameter of the relay device. The protection control and power extractor further outputs an electronic switch device signal based on the generated protection signal.

Galvanic isolation for relay device

In some examples, a system comprises a control subsystem comprising a static power supply, a modulated power supply, and a comparator. The system also includes a galvanic isolation device coupled to the static power supply, the modulated power supply, and the comparator. The system further includes a parameter measurement subsystem comprising a parameter measurement device coupled to a capacitor to be charged by the static and modulated power supplies via the galvanic isolation device. The capacitor has an electrical connection to the galvanic isolation device modulated in accordance with a current pulse train output by the parameter measurement device, the current pulse train indicating a parameter measured by the parameter measurement device. The comparator is to produce a signal indicative of the modulated electrical connection between the capacitor and the galvanic isolation device.

Galvanic isolation devices to provide power and data between subsystems

An integrated gate driver for motor control includes a first diode coupled to an upper rail and providing a voltage on a first connector and a power amplifier coupled between the first connector and a second connector that can be coupled to a source of a high-side power transistor. The power amplifier receives a control signal and provides an output signal to a second pin for driving a gate of the high-side power transistor. A first integrated capacitor is coupled between the first and second connector and an integrated charge pump is coupled to supply a current to the first connector. The charge pump includes a second integrated capacitor having a terminal coupled to a high frequency oscillator and a terminal coupled through a second diode to the first connector and a third diode coupled between the second connector and a point between the second capacitor and the second diode.

Integrated gate driver for motor control

A loop-powered transmitter includes a data isolation transformer including primary and secondary windings and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to convert a sensor signal to a digital value. The transmitter also includes a first microcontroller coupled between a multi-signal interface of the ADC and only one tap of the primary winding of the data isolation transformer, and a second microcontroller coupled to the secondary winding of the data isolation transformer. The first microcontroller is configured to receive the digital value from the ADC over the multi-signal interface and to provide data indicative of the digital value via a single output data line through the tap of the primary winding of the data isolation transformer to the second microcontroller. Unipolar voltage converters may also be included in the transmitter along with a current limiting resistor for the data isolation transformer to reduce the risk of saturating the data isolation transformer.
