Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems, methods, and computer readable media for container based application reification. In a particular embodiment, an application reification system is provided including one or more computer readable storage media and a processing system operatively coupled with the one or more computer readable storage media. The application reification system further includes program instructions stored on the one or more computer readable storage media that, when read and executed by the processing system, direct the processing system to preserve a version of application data at a first time and a configuration of an application at the first time. At a second time subsequent to the first time, the program instructions direct the processing system to create a template for a container containing the application in the configuration and a pointer to the version of the application data in a secondary storage repository.

Container based application reification

Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems, methods, and computer readable media for sub-cluster recovery in a data storage environment having a plurality of storage nodes. In a particular embodiment, the method provides scanning data items in the plurality of nodes. While scanning, the method further provides indexing the data items into an index of a plurality of partition groups. Each partition group includes data items owned by a particular one of the plurality of storage nodes. The method then provides storing the index.

An illustrative embodiment disclosed herein is an apparatus including a processor having programmed instructions to create a global region that is associated with a first bucket partition and a second bucket partition different from the first bucket partition, provide, to the global region, region information of a source region in which a source object is stored, create a destination region in which a destination object is stored, and provide, to the destination region, from the global region, the region information of the source region. In some embodiments, the source region is in the first bucket partition and the destination region is in the second bucket partition.

System and method for shallow copy

An object tiering system transfers or tiers data objects from a data store to a cloud store. The system includes a processor and a memory having stored instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to ingest a first plurality of data objects in the data store, map a second plurality of data objects having a common tiering date to a region, and upon reaching the common tiering date, transfer the region to the cloud store. In some embodiments, the mapping is done a priori when each data object is ingested or at a first time before the common tiering date. In some embodiments, the common tiering date is a second time for transferring the second plurality of data objects from the data store to the cloud store. In some embodiments, the first plurality of objects includes the second plurality of objects.

Various embodiments set forth techniques for erasure coding of replicated data blocks. The techniques include receiving, by a pre-designated node, data associated with an erasure coded strip from a first node; receiving, by the pre-designated node, a replica for a first data block; saving the replica in an erasure coded strip; and in response to a trigger condition, replacing, by the pre-designated node, the replica and at least one replica of a second data block with an error correction block.

For at least one node of a second plurality of nodes, generating per node data based on mappings between a plurality of partition groups and a first plurality of nodes, the first plurality of nodes corresponding to the first cluster. The method further discloses identifying data items included in the plurality of partition groups based on the mappings between the plurality of partition groups and the first plurality of nodes. The method further discloses each partition group corresponding to a node of the first plurality of nodes and comprising a subset of data items stored in the node. The method further discloses loading the data items included in the plurality of partition groups onto the second plurality of nodes, the second plurality of nodes corresponding to the second cluster.

Each partition group corresponds to a node of the first plurality of nodes and comprises a subset of data items stored in the node. Storing the index. Instantiating a second cluster, comprising generating per node data, for each node of a second plurality of nodes, based on mappings between the partition groups and the first plurality of nodes. Identifying the data items included in the partition groups according to the partition group index and loading the data items included in the partition groups onto the second plurality of nodes.

Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems, methods, and machine-readable media for container-based application reification. In an example embodiment, an application reification system preserves a version of application data at a first time and a configuration of an application at the first time. At a second time, the application reification system creates a template for a container containing the application in the configuration and a pointer to the version of the application data in a secondary storage repository.
