The present invention relates to design and applications of a class of water-soluble small molecules represented by Formula 1. In aqueous solutions the said molecules exhibit lower critical solution temperature (LCST) phase transition near room temperature, imparting a temperature triggered switching of transparency stages. Further, it discloses a solution comprising Formula 1 and a scalable smart radiative energy management system that takes form of a dynamic window, wherein the aqueous solution is sandwiched between two transparent glass panes to enable modulation of light and heat transmission. With simple and economical starting materials, the dynamic windows of present invention represent leaps towards creating a niche technology with multifarious applications in developing scalable, smart energy management systems for indoor building environments.

A transparent gel electrolyte comprising a polymeric gelling agent, a lithium or ammonium salt ionic conductor, molecular iodine and a solvent selected from water, water and DMSO or water and alcohol. This electrolyte can be used in electrochromic devices.

Functional and transparent gel electrolyte system and fast switching electrochromic/electrochemical devices thereof

The present invention is to provide highly solid state emissive fluorophores of the formula 1 and 2 useful for the solid state lighting. The formula 1 and 2 have good solid state emission in blue and green region respectively. The zinc complexes of formula 1A and 2A have yellow and red emission respectively in solid state. The present invention also provide high solid state emissive assay of formula 1 and 2 to convert UV light into visible light by coating the color tunable materials on the 365-nm emitting solid state LED. The present invention further provides carbazole end-capped bipyridine for screening of metal salts with different counterions in solutions. The discrimination of the various metal salts can be monitored by noting the fluorescence change in solution. The zinc salts with different counterions have different emission color in solution. The present invention also develop a new two photon active fluorescent Znspecific probe for detecting Znin cellular environments. Assay with formula 3 is used as a fluorescent probe for two photon imaging of Znions in HeLa cells. The high two photon absorption cross section and fluorescence quantum yield of formula 3 made it as a useful probe for detecting Znin cellular environment by two photon excited fluorescence imaging.

Carbazole end capped bipyridine compounds and process for preparation thereof

The present invention describes the use of a fluorescent NIR dye for various applications by simply changing the solvent conditions. Molecule of formula 1 in the monomeric state (30% ACN/25 mM phosphate buffer) can be used for the sensitive detection of thiols and monitoring minor fluctuations in the thiol concentration inside live cells. Molecule 1 in the self-assembled state (25 mM phosphate buffer) can be used for labeling of serum albumin protein either covalently or noncovalently at specific pH. The probe 1 specifically bind with the serum albumin proteins noncovalently at lower pH gives a 'turn-on' NIR emission whereas it binds covalently at higher pH gives a 'turn-on' green fluorescence. Since the probe detects serum albumin proteins selectively in presence of other thiol containing small molecules, the probe can be used as an excellent sensor for serum albumin proteins. The dye-protein complex of various ratios can be used as sensors to detect the pH variations in a broad window from 4.6-11.6 with high sensitivity. Due to the high biocompatibility and water solubility the dye protein complex is useful for ratiometric detection of minor pH variations inside cellular environment. 

Squaraine based fluorescent probe and a process for the preparation thereof

The present invention provides a novel fluorescent molecule having formula 1 which exhibit emission color change when in contact with moisture useful for the preparation of fluorescent paper, allowing self-erasable writing, security label for document authenticity, check and prevention of currency counterfeit. Compound of formula 1 when coated on paper results in blue emitting surfaces on which writing is possible using water as ink. The images undergo self-erasal after 6 hours making the paper reusable or instantly with hot air. The images are visible only on illumination with a UV lamp having wavelength 365 nm. The material can be coated on any document to create security label which changes color on touching with a wet surface or water pen and will go back to the native color when the moisture is dried off after a time frame. This strategy is used to create a security label for currency bills for checking original and fake currency notes or any other documents for authenticity. The technique is also useful for temporary writing on recyclable papers.
