A light source includes a first LED to provide light of a first light wavelength spectrum along a first light path; a second LED to provide light of a second light wavelength spectrum along a second light path; a dichroic filter for passing light emitted from at least one of the first LED and the second LED and reflecting light emitted from at least one of the first LED and the second LED; an optical filter movable between a first position in which the optical filter receives light from the first light path and a second position of which the optical filter does not receive light from the first light path; a light output; a controller which is capable of switching the light source between a first mode for providing a first light to the light output and a second mode for providing a second light to the light output.

Multiple imaging modality light source

Devices, methods, and non-transitory program storage devices are disclosed herein to perform predictive image sensor cropping operations to improve the performance of video image stabilization operations, especially for high resolution image sensors. According to some embodiments, the techniques include, for each of one or more respective images of a first plurality of images: obtaining image information corresponding to one or more images in the first plurality of images captured prior to the respective image; predicting, for the respective image, an image sensor cropping region to be read out from the first image sensor; and then reading out, into a memory, a first cropped version of the respective image comprising only the predicted image sensor cropping region for the respective image. Then, a first video may be produced based, at least in part, on the first cropped versions of the one or more respective images of the first plurality of images.

Sensor cropped video image stabilization (VIS)

A light source includes a first LED in communication with a first DAC; a second LED in communication with a second DAC; a third LED in communication with a third DAC; a color sensor capable of sensing light in the visible light spectrum; and one or more processors configured for: receiving color intensity values from the color sensor, determining whether the color intensity values are balanced to achieve white light, adjusting the current to the second DAC and third DAC until the color intensity levels are balanced to achieve white light at a combined intensity level, setting a new red LED current value, a new green LED current value, and a new blue LED current value to adjust the combined intensity level toward a target intensity level, and repeating the setting step until the target intensity level is achieved.

A method of imaging tissue of a subject using an electronic rolling shutter imager includes sequentially resetting rows of pixels of the rolling shutter imager from a first row to a last row for a first amount of time; illuminating the tissue of the subject with illumination light over an illumination period that begins once the last row of the rolling shutter imager has been reset and lasts for at least the first amount of time; accumulating charge at the rows of pixels over at least the illumination period based on light that is received from the tissue of the subject while the tissue of the subject is illuminated with the illumination light; sequentially reading charge accumulated at the rows of pixels from the first row to the last row once the illumination period has ended; and generating an image frame from the rows of pixels.

Systems and methods for medical imaging using a rolling shutter imager

A system includes an illumination source and an imaging apparatus that includes an electronic rolling shutter imager and is configured for sequentially resetting rows of pixels of the rolling shutter imager from a first row to a last row, sequentially reading charge accumulated at the rows of pixels from the first row to the last row, wherein the first row is read after resetting the last row, controlling the illumination source to illuminate the tissue of the subject with illumination light for an illumination period that lasts longer than a vertical blanking period, wherein the vertical blanking period is the period from the resetting of the last row to the reading of the first row, and generating an image frame from the readings of charge accumulated at the rows of pixels, wherein at least one reading of charge accumulated at a row of pixels is removed or replaced.

Systems and methods for detecting, characterizing, and addressing the type of endoscope that is connected to the camera/light source based on the image size taken using that endoscope are disclosed. Once the type of endoscope is determined, the systems and methods can adjust at least one parameter of the camera/light source based on the determination of the type of endoscope that is being used.

A method for generating light from a medical light source includes emitting light in a visible wavelength spectrum from a first light of the medical light source, emitting light in a first infrared spectrum from a first light emitter of a second light, redirecting light emitted from the first light emitter by at least one optical element of the second light, emitting light in a second infrared spectrum from a second light emitter of the second light, and redirecting the light emitted from the second light emitter by the at least one optical element of the second light.

An endoscopic system having a light source that can operate in two modes is provided. The first mode provides a white light to an endoscope to transmit the light to a surgical site or other object, the reflection of which can be received by the endoscope and for the process. The second mode of the light source provides infrared excitation light and light in the blue and green wavelength spectra to an endoscope to transmit the light to an object such as a surgical site. The blue and green reflected light, as well as light from excitation markers, which is an infrared light at a different wavelength than the excitation infrared light, is received by the endoscope and further processed.

A light source for medical or surgical procedures is provided which can provide at least three different imaging modes. Modular light engines are also provided which may be interchangeable within a light source system for increased imaging capability. Methods of using such light sources and modular light engines are also provided.

A method and apparatus are explained for performing white point color adjustment for a display device. This can be done by obtaining a value of an ambient light sensor, determining whether to make a white point adjustment, and, for a dynamic white point adjustment, using the value from the ambient light sensor in performing white point adjustment toward target color coordinates. A white point might be set equal to the target color coordinates, but might also remain unchanged for small ambient light changes or ambient light outside a region of interest. The white point might be changed to the target color coordinates in multiple steps. Various parameters might be used that can be varied to vary behavior of the white point adjustment.
