A drill bit analysis and optimization system for use in a wellbore is provided. The system includes a drill bit including a cutter, a sensor that collects a data signal on a surface of the drill bit proximate to the cutter, and a signal processor unit that receives the data signal from the sensor and receives the expected drilling properties from the data reservoir. The processor analyzes the data signal to detect a resistivity profile from the sensor through a formation and optimizes a drilling parameter by comparing actual drilling properties with expected drilling properties.

Systems and methods for drill bit and cutter optimization

Methods, systems, and computer program products for inspecting a pipe in a well using an eddy-current based pipe inspection tool comprises conveying the pipe inspection tool through the well, obtaining a first voltage measurement at an axial position along the pipe from at least one main receiver. The first voltage measurement includes a residual voltage induced in the at least one main receiver by a residual magnetic field resulting from residual magnetism in the pipe. A second voltage measurement is obtained at said axial position along the pipe from at least one second receiver. The first voltage measurement and the second voltage measurement are processed to obtain a processed measurement representing a difference between the first and second voltage measurements. The processed measurement is substantially free of the residual voltage and may be use to estimate a thickness of the pipe and other pipe characteristics.

Elimination of residual magnetism effect in eddy current based inspection of pipes

A fiber optic distributed sensing system for installation within a wellbore is provided. The system includes a first set of downhole sensors having one or more nuclear sensors with nuclear field sensitivity. The system additionally includes, a second set of downhole sensors having one or more ElectroMagnetic (EM) sensors with electromagnetic field sensitivity. The fiber optic distributed sensing system also includes a processor system configured to receive data measurements from the first and second sets of sensors and configured to conjointly process the data measurements into representations of physical attributes of the wellbore.

Apparatus and method for monitoring production wells

An apparatus and a system, as well as methods, operable to include acquiring eddy current data from at least two concentric pipes, determining spatial frequency content of the eddy current data, and determining locations of defects in each of the pipes based on the spatial frequency content.
