A method and a base station for obtaining a data radio bearer identifier are disclosed. The method includes: the first base station sends a first message to a second base station; receives a second message sent by the second base station; and sends first information to user equipment, where the first message is used to request to add a data radio bearer (DRB), the second message is used to indicate an identifier of at least one DRB, and the first information comprises DRB configuration information including the identifier of the at least one DRB. In this way, the first base station can add the DRB based on a radio resource management policy and a network condition, to reconfigure a mapping relationship between a QoS flow and the DRB, so that setting of the DRB is more flexible and effective.

Method for setting up data radio bearer between base stations in carrier aggregation

A communication device includes a level one (L1) processing element configured to measure downlink (DL) reference signals from multiple beams received via a transceiver to generate L1 data describing the multiple beams. The device also includes a level two (L2) processing element configured to consolidate, select, or filter the multiple beams responsive to the L1 data to produce L2 data corresponding to one or more of the multiple beams in a first cell that are consistent with preconfigured parameters. This application relates to the field of communications technologies, and discloses a method and an apparatus for transmitting a buffer status report, to help enhance mobility management on a terminal. The method may include: receiving, by a terminal, an instruction message, where the instruction message is used to instruct the terminal to report a BSR, the BSR includes at least one of a first BSR and a second BSR, the first BSR is a BSR corresponding to a first beam link, and the second BSR is a BSR corresponding to a second beam link; and then, reporting, by the terminal, the BSR on the first beam link according to the instruction message.

Methods are provided to perform multiple-connectivity operation in the heterogeneous network. In one novel aspect, multiple-connectivity is configured with one microwave macro cell and multiple small cells. UE establishes control plane connectivity with the microwave macro cell, where the S1-MME interface is terminated. Multiple small-cell base stations provide traffic data together to the UE and are connected with Xn interfaces. One small-cell base station in the set of the configured small base stations is an UP anchor small-cell base station, where S1-U interface is terminated. Other small base stations are UP assistance small base station. In one embodiment, the set of small base stations and the UP anchor small base stations can be changed based on the measurement report/results of the different cells as well as the cell loading status. The anchor base station can be changed either by the UE or through network configuration.

Methods and apparatus for multiple connectivity in heterogeneous network

Apparatus and methods are provided to handle the intermittent disconnections in an mmW system. In one novel aspect, the beam tracking failure is determined upon detection of one or more tracking failure conditions. In one embodiment, the UE further considers potential recoveries to avoid frequent triggering of the beam-tracking failure condition. In another novel aspect, the UE performs one or more recovery procedures based on one or more recovery conditions. In one embodiment, the UE performs the initial alignment procedure to recover the connection. In another embodiment, the UE performs the beam-switching request procedure before triggers the initial alignment procedure. In one embodiment, timers are used to supervise the recovery procedures. In another embodiment, macro-assisted procedures are used for the beam-switching request procedure. In yet another novel aspect, the UE performs reestablishment of a new connection at the upper layer upon receiving the beam-tracking failure indicator.
