An autonomous inflow control device includes a body defining a cavity. An inlet is in fluid communication with the cavity. The inlet receives well fluids. A deflection surface within the cavity deflects the well fluids at an angle based on a predetermined fluid property range of the well fluids. An influx outlet is in fluid communication with the cavity. An actuation device is disposed in the cavity and based on the angle the well fluids deflect off the deflection surface, the actuation device moves between an open position and a closed position. In the closed position, the actuation device covers the influx outlet. In the open position, the actuation device exposes the influx outlet to direct a volume of water from the well fluids out of the cavity. An outlet is in fluid communication with the cavity to direct the well fluids out of the cavity.

Methods and systems for differentiating different types of fluids in a fluid stream

A method includes running a eutectic alloy system downhole in a wellbore including a first casing string and a second casing string therein, activating a differential valve tool within the second casing to generate a primary annular seal within a casing-casing annulus defined between the first casing string and second casing string, pumping a flushing fluid into the casing-casing annulus above the primary annular seal via a first ported collar, melting a eutectic alloy blanket into a molten alloy within the flushing fluid in the casing-casing annulus via a heater, solidifying the molten alloy to establish a supplemental seal above the primary annular seal in the casing-casing annulus between the first casing string and second casing string, and pumping cement into the casing-casing annulus above the supplemental seal to form a cement column in the casing-casing annulus via a second ported collar.

A stimulation tool for dislodging material from a perforation formed through a tubular disposed in a wellbore includes a main body formed at least in part from a material that is buoyant in a wellbore fluid, a ballast, a magnet, and a pressure pulse generator. The tool is configured to descend downhole by force of gravity when the ballast is attached and couple, by the magnet, to an interior surface of the tubular upon arrival at a downhole location proximate the perforation. When the tool is coupled by the magnet to the interior of the tubular, the tool transmits pressure pulses from the pressure pulse generator into the perforation, thereby dislodging material from the perforation. The tool de-couples from the interior surface and releases the ballast, thereby permitting the tool to ascend uphole, driven at least partially by a buoyant force exerted by the wellbore fluids.

Systems and methods include a method for multi-segmented oil production. A multi-segmented well production model representing production at a multi-segmented oil production facility is calibrated. The model models production based on well rates and flowing bottom-hole pressure data at various choke settings for multiple flow conditions for each segment of the multi-segmented well. Real-time updates to the well rates and the flowing bottom-hole pressure data are received. Changes to triggers identifying thresholds for identifying production improvements are received. The model is re-calibrated based on the changes to the triggers and the real-time updates. An optimization algorithm is executed to determine new optimal inflow control valve (ICV) settings. Using the re-calibrated multi-segmented well production model, a determination is made whether the new optimal ICV settings improve production. If so, the optimal ICV settings are provided to a control panel for the multi-segmented oil production facility.

Systems and methods include a method providing automated production optimization for smart well completions using real-time nodal analysis including comingled production calibration. Real-time well rates and flowing bottom-hole pressure data are collected at various choke settings for multiple flow conditions for each lateral of a multilateral well during regular field optimization procedures. Surface and downhole pressures and production metrics for each of the laterals are recorded for one lateral at a time during production of the well. Flowing parameters of individual laterals are estimated using the multilateral well production model. An optimum pressure drop across each downhole valve is determined using the multilateral well production model. Each lateral of the multilateral well is calibrated during the commingled production at various choke valves settings. The calibrating is done using the multilateral well production model, based at least in part on the optimum pressure drop across each downhole valve.

Real-time well rates and flowing bottom-hole pressure data are collected by a multilateral well optimizing system at various choke settings for multiple flow conditions for each lateral of a multilateral well during regular field optimization procedures. Surface and downhole pressures and production metrics for each of the laterals are recorded for one lateral at a time. A multilateral well production model is calibrated using the surface and downhole pressures and the production metrics for each of the laterals. Flowing parameters of individual laterals are estimated using the multilateral well production model. An optimum pressure drop across each downhole valve is determined using the multilateral well production model. A productivity of each lateral is estimated using the model during the commingled production at various choke valves settings.

Automated production optimization technique for smart well completions using real-time nodal analysis including real-time modeling

Systems and methods include a method for optimizing smart well completions using real-time nodal analysis including recommending changes to downhole settings. Real-time well rates and flowing bottom-hole pressure data at various choke settings for multiple flow conditions are collected for each lateral of a multilateral well. Recommended optimizing changes to downhole inflow control valve (ICV) settings for surface and subsurface ICVs are determined based on the real-time well rates and the flowing bottom-hole pressure data. The optimizing changes are designed to optimize production in the multilateral well. The recommended optimizing changes to the downhole ICV settings for the surface and subsurface ICVs in the laterals are provided for presentation to a user in a user interface of a multilateral well optimizing system. A user selection of one or more of the recommended optimizing changes is received. The recommended optimizing changes selected by the user are implemented.

Automated production optimization technique for smart well completions using real-time nodal analysis including recommending changes to downhole settings

A semi-autonomous downhole taxi with fiber optic communication is described. The taxi includes a housing configured to travel within a horizontal section of a wellbore. A docking station is detachably attached to the housing. The docking station is configured to couple to a wireline to pass the taxi through a vertical section of the wellbore. The docking station is configured to be detached from and re-attached to the housing. A fiber optic cable spool is attached to and carried by the housing. A fiber optic cable is wound on the fiber optic cable spool. The fiber optic cable mechanically connects the docking station and the housing. The fiber optic cable is configured to unspool from the fiber optic cable spool as the housing, detached from the docking station, travels through the horizontal section of the wellbore. The fiber optic cable is configured to pass data between the docking station and the housing. The data is associated with wellbore operations to be performed by the taxi in the horizontal section of the wellbore.

Systems and methods for moving a tubular string within a subterranean well include a structural collar sized with a ring outer diameter to fit within a bore of the subterranean well. A plurality of individual openings are spaced around an outer diameter surface of the structural collar, each individual opening associated with an inflatable member. The inflatable member is operable to vibrationally impact an internal surface of the subterranean well with repeated inflating and deflating the inflatable member.

A method of measuring two or more fluid phases in a downhole well bore that comprises measuring a flow of each of the two or more phases at respective ports at which the two or more phases are unmixed within the well bore. In certain implementations, the well bore is inclined at 20 degrees or less to a horizontal axis. Each of the two or more phases can flow at a rate to achieve low Reynolds numbers in a laminar flow regime.

A method for the determination of the water cut and volumetric flow rate of a fluid flowing through a density inflow control valve. A density inflow control valve may include a floating device that moves between a relaxed choke position and a restricted choke position depending on the density of the fluid flowing through the valve. Pressure gauges upstream and downstream of the inflow control device may be used to measure the pressure drop across the inflow control valve over time. The water cut of the downhole fluid flowing through the valve may be determined from the pressure drop over time and the pressure drop associated with the relaxed choke position and the restricted choke position. The volumetric flow rate may be determined from the average water cut and the density of the downhole fluid, as determined from the single phase densities.
