An AP obtains service-level agreement (SLA) parameters indicating at least a delay bound for each of a plurality of traffic flows. The AP receives first packets of a first traffic flow, and delays their transmission for a delay period based on the data carried in the first packets being less than a first threshold. During the delay period, the AP receives second packets of the first traffic flow while also receiving packets of a second traffic flow, groups the second traffic flow with the first traffic flow for an MU-MIMO transmission based on the data carried in the first and second packets of the first traffic flow being greater than the first threshold and the data carried in the packets of the second traffic flow being greater than a second threshold, and transmits the first and second packets traffic flows as an MU-MIMO communication.

Dynamic MU-MIMO staging for real-world applications

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a wireless communication device (WCD) may communicate, via a wireless link, with an audio device using a first configuration having first values for communication parameters. The WCD may transmit an indication to switch to a second configuration based at least in part on a configuration switch trigger, the configuration switch trigger being based at least in part on one or more of a link quality metric associated with the wireless link or a change of a use state of the WCD, and the second configuration having second values for the communication parameters associated with a reduction in voltage-induced interference in an audio output of the audio device. Configuration switch triggers for audio device communications

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, an access point may start a target wake time (TWT) service period (SP). The access point may receive an end of SP (EOSP) indication from a station. The access point may stop the TWT SP before a scheduled end of the TWT SP based on receiving the EOSP indication. Numerous other aspects are described.

End of service period indication

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for provisioning resources for wireless communications. Some implementations more specifically relate to provisioning such resources based on a mapping of wireless communication devices to a number of time sectors that occur periodically and do not overlap other time sectors. In some aspects, each wireless stations (STAs) in a basic service set (BSS) may be mapped to a respective time sector based on attributes associated with the BSS so that communications between a STA and its associated access point (AP) can only occur within the respective time sector(s) to which the STA is mapped. In some other aspects, each AP in a multi-AP environment may be mapped to a respective time sector based on attributes associated with the multi-AP environment so that communications between an AP and its associated STAs can only occur within the respective time sector(s) to which the AP is mapped.

Network time sectoring

Systems and methods for selectively enabling multi-user (MU) communications are disclosed. In some implementations, an access point (AP) obtains packets associated with a traffic flow, and obtains at least one of service-level agreement (SLA) parameters associated with the traffic flow, attributes of the traffic flow, or network parameters associated with a basic service set (BSS) that includes the AP. The AP provides an indication of whether the traffic flow is suitable for transmission as a single-user (SU) multiple-input multiple output (MIMO) (SU-MIMO) communication, as an MU-MIMO communication, as an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) communication, or as a partial bandwidth (BW) MU-MIMO communication to a WLAN subsystem of the AP, the indication being based on one or more of the SLA parameters, the traffic flow attributes, or the network parameters. The AP initiates transmission of the one or more packets based on the indication.

Managed MU-MIMO enablement for real-world applications

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications for opportunistic sounding for low latency applications are described. An access point (AP) may communicate with one or more stations (STAs), and may communicate a control message indicating more than one periodic service periods for wireless communication with the one or more STAs. The AP may transmit, via a transmit beam, a data message during a first service period of the more than one periodic service periods based on a first compressed beamforming estimate (CBF) for the transmit beam being satisfactory for the first service period and transmit one or more sounding signals during the first service period after transmitting the data message based on the first CBF being suboptimal for a second service period that occurs after the first service period. The STA(s) may transmit, and the AP may receive, an indication of a second CBF based on the one or more sounding signals.

Opportunistic sounding for low latency applications

This disclosure provides methods, components, devices and systems for low-latency parameter updates. In some aspects, a wireless communication device, such as a handset or an access point (AP), may transmit, to one or more wireless audio devices, an indication of a set of updated parameters associated with an extended personal area network (XPAN) of the wireless communication device. The wireless communication device may embed the indication of the set of updated parameters via a real-time protocol (RTP) header or in a padding section of a payload data of an audio data packet. A wireless audio device may extract the set of updated parameters from the audio data packet and may transmit an acknowledgement (ACK) to the wireless communication device. As a result of receiving an ACK from the wireless audio device(s), the wireless communication device may communicate with the wireless audio device(s) in accordance with the updated parameters.

Low-latency parameter updates for extended personal area networks

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for wireless communication. In one aspect, a method of wireless communication includes utilizing a sounding procedure to obtain compressed beamforming (CBF) information. The sounding procedure may be a single-user or multi-user sounding procedure. The CBF information may contain various information regarding a particular channel that an access point may use for transmission. The information may include per-tone SNR information which may be processed to determine characteristics of the channel. Various techniques may be utilized to determine the further characteristics of the channel. The determined characteristics of the channel may then be used to determine an appropriate guard interval (GI) between symbols that are to be transmitted. Appropriate GI selection in wireless communications may facilitate higher throughput while decreasing overhead due to unnecessary idle time.

Throughput optimization by guard interval selection from beamforming feedback

The disclosure provides techniques for sounding sequence protection in multi-user multiple-input-multiple-output (MU-MIMO) communications for wireless local area networks (WLANs). An access point (AP) may select a station (STA) from multiple STAs in a MU-MIMO group. The AP may then transmit a request-to-send (RTS) frame, where the RTS is addressed to the selected STA. The AP may receive a clear-to-send (CTS) frame from the selected station and may perform, in response to receiving the CTS frame, a sounding sequence with the MU-MIMO group. After completion of the sounding sequence, the AP may transmit MU-MIMO data communications to at least one of the STAs in the MU-MIMO group.

Techniques for MU-MIMO sounding sequence protection

Methods, systems, and apparatuses are described for wireless communications. More particularly, an access point (AP) identifies a plurality of multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) groups associated with a wireless station (STA). The AP determines a communication metric associated with each of the plurality of MU-MIMO groups. The communication metric provides an indication of the compatibility of the STAs in the MU-MIMO group. The AP prioritizes at least one of the plurality of MU-MIMO groups based at least in part on the communication metric associated with the prioritized MU-MIMO group. The AP creates a preferred group list and/or a blacklisted group list and included the prioritized MU-MIMO group in the appropriate group list.

Smart grouping for multi-user multiple-input/multiple-output stations

Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. In one aspect, a method of wireless communication includes determining a transmit time metric associated with each transmission group of a number of transmission groups based at least in part on an amount of data in a transmit queue and a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) data rate for at least one wireless communication device in the transmission group. The method also includes scheduling a transmission to a first transmission group of the number of transmission groups based at least in part on the transmit time metric for the first transmission group.

Multi-user multiple-input-multiple-output scheduling

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to efficient optimal group identification (GID) management for multiple user (MU) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications. Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide an apparatus for wireless communications. The apparatus generally includes a processing system configured to: for each GID of a plurality of GIDs, assign a plurality of devices to positions within one or more groups associated with that GID and generate GID management frames for transmission to active devices of the assigned plurality of devices indicating, for each of the active devices, a position of that active device within each of the plurality of GID; and an interface configured to output the GID management frames for transmission to the active devices.

Efficient optimal group id management scheme for MU-MIMO systems

Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. In one aspect, a method of wireless communication includes receiving, by a first wireless device, beamforming information from a station over a period of time, the beamforming information including a feedback signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) value and compressed feedback matrix. The method also includes determining one or more SNR gradient metrics for the station based at least in part on the received feedback SNR values and the received compressed feedback matrices.

Doppler profile estimation using compressed beamforming information

Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. In one aspect, a method of wireless communication includes receiving, by a wireless device, beamforming information from a plurality of stations. The beamforming information includes feedback signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) values and beamforming feedback matrices. The method further includes determining a metric associated with a candidate group of the plurality of stations based at least in part on the received feedback SNR values and the received beamforming feedback matrices. The metric indicates a correlation between spatial streams of multi-user multiple-input-multiple-output (MU-MIMO) transmissions intended for the stations of the candidate group.

Multi-user multiple-input-multiple-output grouping metrics

Wireless node selects modulation coding schemes (MCS) and number of spatial streams for transmitting data to devices via a MU-MIMO transmission based on the total number of spatial streams. In one implementation, a wireless node selects first MCS, first number of spatial stream(s) for a first device, and total number of spatial streams to be used in the MU-MIMO transmission so as to maximize the data rate to the first device, then selects a second MCS and a second number of spatial stream(s) for a second device based on the selected total number of spatial streams. In another implementation, the wireless node toggles the first selection of the MCS and spatial stream(s) between the first and second devices for fairness purposes. In another implementation, a wireless selects the MCS and the spatial streams for the receiving nodes so as to maximize the aggregate data rate for the MU-MIMO transmission.
