A process for the manufacturing of a poly (arylether sulfone) polymer comprising reacting in a solvent mixture comprising a polar aprotic solvent and in the presence of an alkali metal carbonate, a monomer mixture which contains: at least one 1,4:3,6-dianhydrohexitol selected from the group consisting of isosorbide (1), isomannide (2) and isoidide (3); at least one dihaloaryl compound of formula (S): X&#x2014;Ar&#x2014;SO&#x2014;[Ar&#x2014;(T-Ar)&#x2014;SO]&#x2014;Ar&#x2014;X wherein n and m, equal to or different from each other, are independently zero or an integer of 1 to 5; X and X', equal to or different from each other, are halogens selected from F, Cl, Br, I; each of Ar, Ar, Arand Arequal to or different from each other and at each occurrence, is an aromatic moiety, T is a bond or a divalent group optionally comprising one or more than one heteroatom; optionally, at least one dihydroxyl compound different from the diol (AA); optionally, at least one dihaloaryl compound different from the dihalo (BB); and optionally, at least one hydroxyl-halo compound [hydro-halo (A&#x2032;B&#x2032;)]; being understood that the overall amount of halo-groups and hydroxyl-groups of the monomers of the monomer mixture is substantially equimolecular, so as to obtain a polymer (b-PAES), wherein the reaction is carried out at a total % monomer mixture concentration equal to or more 10% and less than 70% with respect to the combined weight of monomer mixture and solvent mixture.

Polyarylene ether sulfones

A process for the manufacturing of a poly(arylether sulfone)polymer comprising reacting in a solvent mixture comprising a polar aprotic solvent and in the presence of an alkali metal carbonate, a monomer mixture which contains: at least one 1,4:3,6-dianhydrohexitol selected from the group consisting of isosorbide (1), isomannide (2) and isoidide (3); at least one dihaloaryl compound of formula (S):X&#x2014;Ar&#x2014;SO&#x2014;[Ar&#x2014;(T-Ar)n&#x2014;SO]&#x2014;Ar&#x2014;X&#x2003;&#x2003;formula (S)wherein n and m, equal to or different from each other, are independently zero or an integer of 1 to 5; X and X', equal to or different from each other, are halogens selected from F, Cl, Br, I; each of Ar, Ar, Arand Arequal to or different from each other and at each occurrence, is an aromatic moiety, T is a bond or a divalent group optionally comprising one or more than one heteroatom; optionally, at least one dihydroxyl compound different from the diol (AA); optionally, at least one dihaloaryl compound different from the dihalo (BB); and optionally, at least one hydroxyl-halo compound [hydro-halo (A&#x2032;B&#x2032;)]; being understood that the overall amount of halo-groups and hydroxyl-groups of the monomers of the monomer mixture is substantially equimolecular, so as to obtain a polymer (b-PAES), wherein the reaction is carried out at a total % monomer mixture concentration equal to or more 10% and less than 70% with respect to the combined weight of monomer mixture and solvent mixture.

A composition [composition (C)] comprising at least one poly(aryl ether ketone) polymer having a melt flow rate (MFR) equal to or higher than 8 g/10 min at 400.degree. C. and under a load of 2.16 kg, [(PAEK) polymer], from 0.1 to 50 wt. % of at least one poly(tetrafluoroethylene) polymer having a D50 particle size equal to or below 10.mu.m, and having a melt viscosity equal to or lower than 1.times.10Pas at 372.degree. C., from 0 to 50% wt. % of at least one poly(aryl ether sulfone) polymer having a melt flow of at least 15 g/10 min at 365 degree C. and under a load of 5.0 kg, [(PAES) polymer], from 0 to 50% wt. % of at least one reinforcing filler, with the proviso that&#x2014;should the composition (C) comprise a (PAES) polymer having MFR of more than 22 g/10 min, then the (PTFE) polymer is present in an amount of less than 40 wt. %, and&#x2014;should the composition (C) comprise a (PAES) polymer having MFR of 22 g/10 min or less, then the (PTFE) polymer is present in an amount of less than 30 wt. %, and wherein all % are based on the total weight of the composition (C).

High melt flow PEAK compositions

A composition [composition (C)] comprising from 1 to 90% by weight (wt. %) of at least one poly(aryl ether ketone) [(PAEK) polymer, herein after], from to 25 wt. % of at least one polyphenylsulfone polymer [(PPSU) polymer, herein after], from 1 to 90% wt. % of at least one poly(aryl ether sulfone) polymer [(P1) polymer, herein after], selected from a group consisting of at least one high temperature poly(aryl ether sulfone) polymer [(PAES) polymer, herein after] and at least one polyethersulfone polymer [(PESU) polymer, herein after]; from 0 to 50% wt. % of at least one reinforcing filler, and wherein all % are based on the total weight of the composition (C).

PAEK/PAES compositions

An epoxy resin composition [composition (C)] comprising: (i) from 30 to 90% by weight of at least one epoxy compound [compound E], based on the total weight of the composition (C); (ii) from 0 to 60% by weight of at least one curing agent [agent C], based on the total weight of the composition (C); (iii) from 0 to 15% by weight of at least one accelerator, based on the total weight of the composition (C); (iv) from 1 to 60% by weight of at least one poly(aryl ether sulfone) (I) [PAES (I-1)], based on the total weight of the composition (C) and wherein said PAES (I-1) polymer comprises amine functional groups in an amount equal to or more than 200 &#x3bc;eq/g; (v) from 1 to 60% by weight of at least one poly(aryl ether sulfone) (I) [PAES (I-2)], based on the total weight of the composition (C), and wherein said PAES (I-2) polymer is different from the PAES (I-1) polymer.
