Policy based routing in networks including software-based networks is disclosed. Packets ingested into a software defined network are altered to include a label header that identifies a source and destination of a packet. If the packets leave or egress the network, the packets are converted back to regular packets by removing the label header. Adding the label header reduces overhead. Further routing can be performed while enforcing policies.

Granular and efficient policy-based routing in software-defined edge networks

Invoking smart contracts in data confidence fabrics is disclosed. Trust functions are applied to data that is ingested into and/or flowing in a data confidence fabric. When a trust function is applied, a smart contract is invoked. The smart contract is configured to publish annotations to a distributed ledger that reflect the confidence information added by the trust function and to perform payment as a service such that the trust provider is paid. Publishing the annotations to a distributed ledger may be coupled or uncoupled to performing payment as a service.

One example method includes receiving, by a trust provider from a third party proxy, an indication that the third party proxy has instantiated a smart contract on behalf of the trust provider, connecting wallets of a customer to an agent of a data confidence fabric, in response to a request from an application, providing a trust service that includes processing customer data by applying a trust function to the customer data, creating annotations for the customer data based on the trust function, providing the processed customer data to a recipient, calling the smart contract using successive ones of the customer wallets until the smart contract is successfully executed, transferring, from the customer wallet that resulted in successful execution of the smart contract to the third party proxy, a trust provider fee, and transferring the trust provider fee from a third party proxy wallet to a trust provider wallet.

One example method includes receiving a request to perform a data process, determining, by a trustworthy energy awareness (TEA) module, based on energy information and user constraints, a best time to perform the data process, and conveying, by the TEA module to a recipient, information indicating the best time to perform the data process. The data process may be a data backup process, or a garbage collection process, for example.

A method for managing knowledge graphs in a distributed system includes obtaining, by a first distributed ledger technology (DLT) node of a plurality of DLT nodes in a DLT environment, a fact from a source node; initiating, by the first DLT node, fact consensus by the plurality of DLT nodes; making, by the first DLT node, a determination that a fact consensus associated with the fact is reached; in response to the determination: saving, by the first DLT node, the fact in a first immutable log in a storage associated with the first DLT node, wherein a client generates a knowledge graph using the immutable log; performing an incremental update of a first local knowledge graph associated with the first DLT node; and syncing, by the first DLT node, the fact with a DLT archive node that comprises an archive copy of the first immutable log.
