The present disclosure provides a thin-film sensor including a top layer passivation including top electrical contacts; an active layer disposed under the top layer, the active layer including an active material; a bottom layer passivation disposed below the active layer and including bottom electrical contacts; and a semiconductor layer disposed around the active layer, such that the semiconducting layer sandwiches the active layer.

In the present disclosure, a p-n organic battery comprising a p-type organic semiconductor and n-type organic semiconductor as active electrodes, anode and cathode current electrodes, separator and electrolyte and a method of fabricating the same is disclosed. The p-n organic battery has an p-type organic semiconductor separated from a n type organic semiconductor by an aqueous electrolyte solution, contained in an insulating vessel with suitable terminals (not shown) being provided in electric contact with the anode current electrode and the cathode current electrode. The aqueous electrolyte can comprise water, and a transition metal salt such as NiCl, CuCldissolved in the water.

P-N organic battery, a method of fabricating the battery thereof

The disclosure relates to a composition of biocomposite based on natural rubber containing sol-bioglass, which is used and intended for insulating layers and pads in flexible antennas which can be worn in close vicinity with regard to the human body without adversely affecting it. According to the invention, the composition of the biocomposite intended and designed for insulating layers and pads in flexible antennas based on natural rubber is filled with sol-gel derived bioglass amounting to a quantitative range starting from 8 to 50 parts by weight with regard to 100 parts by weight rubber and having following list of remaining ingredients: zinc oxide from 2.5 to 3.5, stearic acid from 1 to 2.5, bis (triethoxysilylpropyl) tetrasulfide from 4 to 6, tertiary butyl-benzothiazolyl sulfenamide from 1 to 2.5, sulfur from 1 to 3 and isopropyl-phenyl-&#x3b2;-phenylene diamine from 0.5 to 1.5.

Construction of elastomeric biocomposite intended for insulating layers and pads with regard to flexible antenna

A conductive nanocomposite which contains a mixed polymer matrix which contains a rubber and a polyether, carbon nanoparticles, and transition metal nanoparticles. The conductive nanocomposite has a nonlinear relationship between resistivity and temperature characterized by an exponential increase reaching a peak resistivity followed by an exponential decrease as temperature increases. Also disclosed is a method of forming the conductive nanocomposite involving mixing the components, aging, and pressing. The conductive nanocomposite forms a component of a heater that is self-regulating as a result of the nonlinear relationship between resistivity and temperature of the conductive nanocomposite. The nanocomposite also forms a component of a thermistor.

A hybrid junction solar light sensitive photodiode includes at least one inorganic p-n junction and at least one organic semiconductor p-n junction (pnpn) in series. The photoresponse properties of the photodiode is controlled using an inorganic layer and an organic layer. The photoactive layer is an organic semiconducting material having a mobility higher than 0.5 cm/Vs. The metal oxide layer is an oxide semiconductor comprising of ternary oxides.

Hybrid junction solar light sensitive device

A photodiode comprising a photoactive spinel oxide layer is described. This photoactive spinel oxide layer forms a contact with both a light absorption layer of quantum dots, quantum wires, or quantum rods, and an inorganic substrate layer. In some embodiments, the inorganic substrate layer and the photoactive spinel oxide layer form an isotype junction. Methods of characterizing the photodiode are provided and demonstrate commercially relevant electrical and optoelectronic properties, particularly the ability to operate as a photodetector with a high photosensitivity. An economical process for preparing the photodiode is provided as well as applications.

A composition of graphene oxide free-standing film, a method of making the film, and a method of using the film to shield electromagnetic radiation particularly at microwave frequencies from 1 GHz to 12 GHz. The composition comprises stacked layers of graphene oxide nanosheets oriented parallel to the film surface and stacked layers of graphene oxide nanosheets oriented perpendicular to the film surface. The method of making the composition includes forming graphene oxide by arc-discharge between graphite electrodes in the presence of oxygen gas to form a graphene oxide soot, suspending the graphene oxide soot in water to form a colloid, depositing the colloid onto a substrate to form a wet paper, and drying the wet paper to form the film. The method of using the composition to shield electromagnetic radiation includes enclosing and/or encapsulating an electromagnetic radiation generating source with the free-standing film to shield electromagnetic radiation.

The method for fabricating a hybrid dual phase filler for elastomers includes: impregnation of carbon black with ethanol suspension of magnetite in a ball mill; drying of the dual phase mixture till constant weight; grinding of the dried product in a ball mill; thermal activation under vacuum in a specifically designed reactor followed by a grinding of the final product in a ball mill. The hybrid dual phase filler includes carbon black impregnated with ethanol suspension of magnetite, contains 5 to 50 mass % of magnetite and 95 to 50 mass % of carbon black. Magnetite is a powder and includes up to 5% of SiO, particle size up to 50&#x3bc; and density of 4.8-5.2 g/cmwith a specific surface area (BET/) 400-900 m/g; iodine number&#x2014;370-750 mg/g; oil number 200-450 ml/100 g; total volume pore 0.5-1.5 cm(STP)/g; micropore surface area 50-90 m/g; external specific surface area 400-900 m/g.

A variable capacitor device that includes a dielectric layer comprising a shape-memory polymer, a first metal plate and a second metal plate, wherein the dielectric layer is sandwiched between the first and the second metal plates. The shape-memory polymer has a first thickness at a first temperature under a first external compressive load, a second thickness at a second temperature under a second external compressive load, wherein the first thickness is greater than the second thickness, the second temperature is greater than the first temperature, and the second external compressive load is greater than the first external compressive load. The shape memory polymer having the second thickness is configured to convert to the shape-memory polymer having the first thickness when sequentially subjected to the first external compressive load and the second temperature.
