Disclosed are techniques to improve power consumption of portable audio devices through the use of a plurality of adapters. Each of the plurality of adapters can be used to modify and/or enhance the functionality of the portable audio device. The portable audio device can include respective circuitry that is activated in response to detecting that a specific one of the plurality of adapters is coupled to the portable audio device.

Portable audio device case with power-saving features

Disclosed is a wireless wearable electronic device having an antenna that communicatively couples the wearable electronic device to another wearable electronic device and to a remote, portable device. The antenna is generally shaped like a loop or ring, has a bow with respect to the plane of the loop or ring and operates in conjunction with the ground planes of the printed circuit boards in proximity to the antenna to form a principal omni-directional lobe about the ear of the user and a secondary lobe downwardly directed from the head of the user to communicate with the remote device.

Wireless wearable electronic device communicatively coupled to a remote device

A wearable device and methods for using the same provided. In one embodiment, a wearable device includes an antenna disposed in a controller and/or a band. The antenna is an electrically conductive element with three connection points, defining three segments. With one of the connection points driven and the other two grounded, the antenna has characteristics of an inverted-F antenna along with a parasitic element between the two grounded points, parasitic element altering the antenna's directionality. In an embodiment, the antenna includes apertures through which portions of a shielded cable protrude to allow conductors in each cable portion to connect to the printed circuit board which is enclosed within the periphery of the antenna. The shields of the cable portions connect to a ground plane of the printed circuit board and both the shields and the ground plane of the printed circuit board act as a ground for the antenna.

Wearable device with an antenna system

A wearable device and methods for using the same provided. In one embodiment, a wearable device includes a pair of earphones with a controller and an expansion pack. The controller includes a first set of electrical contacts and a first set of modules. The expansion pack includes a second set of electrical contacts and a second set of modules. The controller is configured to electrically couple at least one module of the first set of modules to at least one module of the second set of modules when the controller is electrically coupled to the expansion pack. The expansion pack may further include a USB energy storage device to provide the earphones with an extended battery life when the expansion pack is coupled to the chargeable batteries of the controller.
