The disclosure provides methods of preparing small pore zeolites, the method including using a first organic structure-directing agent and a second organic structure-directing agent to crystallize the zeolites, wherein the first organic structure-directing agent is bis-quaternary ammonium cations, and the second organic structure-directing agent is mono-quaternary ammonium cations. Further disclosed are small pore zeolites having a controlled framework aluminum distribution, and selective catalytic reduction catalyst compositions, articles, and systems including such zeolites promoted with a metal.

Zeolite structure synthesized using mixtures of organic structure directing agents

The disclosure generally provides zeolites having the CHA crystalline framework and methods of preparing the same. Provided herein are CHA zeolites containing intergrowths, a controlled framework aluminum distribution, or both. Further provided are CHA zeolites wherein crystals of the zeolite material have a predominantly flake-like morphology as determined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Further provided are catalyst compositions, articles, and systems including CHA zeolites promoted with a metal.

Chabazite synthesis method including organic and inorganic structure directing agents and chabazite zeolite with flake-like morphology

The present disclosure provides a method of making zeolite intergrowths. In one embodiment, the present disclosure provides a method of making an AEI-based material, including the steps of: preparing a mixture of water, an alumina source, a silica source, a CHA structure directing agent, and an AEI structure directing agent, wherein the molar ratio of the CHA structure directing agent to the AEI structure directing agent is from about 1:1 to about 1:15; heating the mixture at a temperature sufficient to promote formation of crystals; and calcining the crystals at a temperature of from about 450° C. to about 750° C. to obtain a product, wherein no halide-containing reagent is employed. The AEI-based materials of the present disclosure may find particular use in selective catalytic reduction of NOin exhaust gas streams.

Aluminosilicate zeolite intergrowths

Zeolite catalysts and systems and methods for preparing and using zeolite catalysts having the CHA crystal structure are disclosed. The catalysts can be used to remove nitrogen oxides from a gaseous medium across a broad temperature range and exhibit hydrothermal stable at high reaction temperatures. The zeolite catalysts include a zeolite carrier having a silica to alumina ratio from about 15:1 to about 256:1 and a copper to alumina ratio from about 0.25:1 to about 1:1.

Copper CHA zeolite catalysts

The present disclosure relates to copper-containing molecular sieve catalysts that are highly suitable for the treatment of exhaust containing NOx pollutants. The copper-containing molecular sieve catalysts contain ion-exchanged copper as Cuand Cu(OH), and DRIFT spectroscopy of the catalyst exhibits perturbed T-O-T vibrational peaks corresponding to the Cuand Cu(OH). In spectra taken of the catalytic materials, a ratio of the Cuto the Cu(OH)peak integration areas preferably can be &#x2265;1. The copper-containing molecular sieve catalysts are aging stable such that the peak integration area percentage of the Cupeak (area Cu/(area Cu+area Cu(OH))) increases by &#x2264;20% upon aging at 800&#xb0; C. for 16 hours in the presence of 10% HO/air, compared to the fresh state.

Selective catalytic reduction articles and systems

Disclosed are zeolite catalysts having the CHA crystal structure with a low silica to alumina ratio, as well as articles and systems incorporating the catalysts and methods for their preparation and use. The catalysts can be used to reduce NOx from exhaust gas streams, particularly those emanating from gasoline or diesel engines.

Chabazite zeolite catalysts having low silica to alumina ratios

A process for preparing a catalyst comprising a zeolitic material comprising copper, the process comprising (i) preparing an aqueous mixture comprising water, a zeolitic material comprising copper, a source of copper other than the zeolitic material comprising copper, and a non-zeolitic oxidic material selected from the group consisting of alumina, silica, titania, zirconia, ceria, a mixed oxide comprising one or more of Al, Si, Ti, Zr, and Ce and a mixture of two or more thereof; (ii) disposing the mixture obtained in (i) on the surface of the internal walls of a substrate comprising an inlet end, an outlet end, a substrate axial length extending from the inlet end to the outlet end and a plurality of passages defined by internal walls of the substrate extending therethrough; and optionally drying the substrate comprising the mixture disposed thereon; (iii) calcining the substrate obtained in (ii).

In-situ copper ion-exchange on pre-exchanged copper zeolitic material

The invention provides a method of synthesizing a zeolite having the CHA crystalline framework, the method including forming a reaction mixture comprising an alumina source comprising a zeolite having an FAU crystalline framework, a silica source, and an organic structure directing agent, the reaction mixture&#x2014;having a combined molar ratio of M/Si+R/Si higher than the molar ratio OH/Si, wherein M is moles of alkali metal and R is moles of organic structure directing agent; and crystallizing the reaction mixture to form a product zeolite having the CHA crystalline framework, wherein the product zeolite has a mesopore surface area (MSA) of less than about 25 m/g. The invention also includes catalyst articles made using the product zeolite, exhaust gas treatment systems including the catalyst articles, and methods of treating exhaust gas using the catalyst articles.

CHA zeolite material and related method of synthesis

A process for preparing a zeolitic material having framework type AEI and having a framework structure which comprises a tetravalent element Y, a trivalent element X, and oxygen, said process comprising (i) providing a zeolitic material having framework type CHA and having a framework structure comprising the tetravalent element Y, the trivalent element X, and oxygen; (ii) preparing a synthesis mixture comprising the zeolitic material provided in (i), water, a source of the tetravalent element Y other than the zeolitic material provided in (i), and an AEI framework structure directing agent; (ili) subjecting the synthesis mixture prepared in (ii) to hydrothermal synthesis conditions comprising heating the synthesis mixture to a temperature in the range of from 100 to 200&#xb0; C. and keeping the synthesis mixture at a temperature in this range under autogenous pressure, obtaining the zeolitic material having framework type AEI; wherein Y is one or more of Si, Ge, Sn, Ti, Zr; wherein X is one or more of Al, B, Ga, In; wherein in the framework structure of the zeolitic material provided in (i), the molar ratio Y:X, calculated as YO2: X2O3, is at most 20:1 and, wherein; the process further comprises supporting a metal M selected from the transition metals of groups 7 to 12 of the periodic system of elements.

Process for preparing a zeolitic material having framework type AEI

A method for crystallizing aluminosilicate zeolites, including the steps of preparing a mixture containing a silica source, a mineralizing agent, an organic structure directing agent; heating the mixture to form a heated mixture; and adding an alumina source to the heated mixture. The method steps described herein can provide an accelerated aluminosilicate zeolite crystallization process as compared to conventional processes.

A process for preparing a zeolitic material comprising a metal M, having framework type AEI, and having a framework structure which comprises a tetravalent element Y, a trivalent element X, and oxygen, said process comprising (i) providing a zeolitic material comprising the metal M, having a framework type other than AEI, and having a framework structure comprising the trivalent element X, and oxygen; (ii) preparing a synthesis mixture comprising the zeolitic material provided in (i), water, a source of the tetravalent element Y, and an AEI framework structure directing agent; (iii) subjecting the synthesis mixture prepared in (ii) to hydrothermal synthesis conditions comprising heating the synthesis mixture to a temperature in the range of from 100 to 200&#xb0; C. and keeping the synthesis mixture at a temperature in this range under autogenous pressure, obtaining the zeolitic material having framework type AEI; wherein Y is one or more of Si, Ge, Sn, Ti, Zr; wherein X is one or more of Al, B, Ga, In; wherein M is a transition metal of groups 7 to 12 of the periodic table of elements.

Aluminum gradient aluminosilicate zeolite compositions

Described is a selective catalytic reduction catalyst comprising a zeolitic framework material of silicon and aluminum atoms, wherein a fraction of the silicon atoms are isomorphously substituted with a tetravalent metal. The catalyst can include a promoter metal such that the catalyst effectively promotes the reaction of ammonia with nitrogen oxides to form nitrogen and HO selectively over a temperature range of 150 to 650&#xb0; C. In another aspect, described is a selective catalytic reduction composite comprising an SCR catalyst material and an ammonia storage material comprising a transition metal having an oxidation state of IV. The SCR catalyst material promotes the reaction of ammonia with nitrogen oxides to form nitrogen and HO selectively over a temperature range of 150&#xb0; C. to 600&#xb0; C., and the SCR catalyst material is effective to store ammonia at temperatures of 400&#xb0; C. and above. A method for selectively reducing nitrogen oxides, and a method for simultaneously selectively reducing nitrogen oxide and storing ammonia are also described. Additionally, an exhaust gas treatment system is also described.

Molecular sieve catalyst compositions, catalytic composites, systems, and methods

Described is a selective catalytic reduction material comprising a spherical particle including an agglomeration of crystals of a molecular sieve. The catalyst is a crystalline material that is effective to catalyze the selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides in the presence of a reductant at temperatures between 200&#xb0; C. and 600&#xb0; C. A method for selectively reducing nitrogen oxides and an exhaust gas treatment system are also described.
