A system for preventing ingress of liquid into an opening in a computer casing may include a door rotatably connected to the computer casing, a layer of material adhered to the door and having a chamfered edge, a bar movably connected to the computer casing and operable for travel in a first direction or a second direction opposite the first direction and a spring having a first end connected to the bar and a second end connected to the computer casing for biasing the bar in the first direction of travel. Closing the door causes the layer of material to contact a recessed surface of the opening and deflect the chamfered edge to form a seal in the recessed opening. Moving the bar in the first direction retains the door relative to the computer to maintain the seal formed by the layer of material.

System, method and apparatus for door latching using a spring latch

Apparatuses, systems and methods for effective cooling of electronic devices are presented herein. More specifically, embodiments of the present invention comprise one or more heat pipes thermally coupled to electronic components and to a first heat sink and a second heat sink. The heat pipes are constructed to transfer heat generated at the one or more electronic components to the first heat sink and to the second heat sink. The first heat sink is operable to transfer heat energy to the ambient air using dissipation or advection. The second heat sink is able to transfer heat energy to the ambient air using dissipation. A controller is operable to switch between a passive mode of operation and an active mode of operation. The system can operate in a passive mode only in temperatures less than 25 degrees Celsius, can switch operation between a passive mode and an active mode without throttling in temperatures less than 60 degrees Celsius, can switch operation between a passive mode and an active mode in temperatures greater than 60 degrees Celsius while maintaining about 85% or greater maximum processing speed, and can operate in a passive only mode with minimal throttling.

System, apparatus and method for cooling electronic components

A computer casing may have an opening that requires sealing against water ingress. A system for preventing ingress of liquid into the opening may include a door rotatably connected to the computer casing, a layer of material adhered to the door and having a chamfered edge, a bar movably connected to the door and operable for travel in a first direction or a second direction opposite the first direction and a spring having a first end connected to the bar and a second end connected to the door for biasing the bar in the first direction of travel. Systems, devices and methods for interfacing a single bus with multiple buses invisibly to devices using the single bus are presented. More specifically, in one embodiment an I/O bus may be interfaced with multiple other I/O buses of the same or different formats. Commands may be received on the first I/O bus and invisibly to a computing device or processor which issues the commands, translated into a set of commands configured to effectuate a received command in conjunction with storage media coupled to the other I/O buses. This set of commands may also be configured to implement additional functionality in conjunction with the storage media such as RAID or data encryption.

Method and system and apparatus for use in data storage

Systems and methods for storage devices are presented. More specifically, in one embodiment a storage device may comprise have an enclosure comprising an interface which may be coupled to an I/O bus of a computing system with which it is being utilized. Commands may be received through the interface and, invisibly to the computing system which issues the commands, translated into a set of commands configured to effectuate the received command in conjunction with one or more storage media coupled to the interface, where this set of commands may also be configured to implement additional functionality such as RAID or data encryption in conjunction with the storage media.

One embodiment provides an electronic device (for example, a ruggedized laptop computer) which includes a housing, a battery compartment, and a battery cover. The cover can have a thickness sufficient to protect the battery from damage. The cover can include a body, a conductive heat transfer device (for instance a conductive pad), and a convective heat transfer device (for instance, a plurality of fins). The conductive device can be on the inside of the cover and can abut the battery. Together, the conductive heat transfer device, the body of the battery cover, and the convective heat transfer device can form a heat transfer path from the battery to the environment which has a low overall heat transfer coefficient. The convective device can be a plurality of fins recessed into the exterior of the cover. A gusset can be on the interior of the cover and can correspond with the recess.

Systems, methods, and apparatus for battery cooling and protection

A computer chassis has overmolded dampeners for absorbing shock and vibration. Electronic components are hard mounted to points inside the computer chassis. Overmolded dampeners are affixed to corners, surfaces and sides of the laptop such that shock and vibration are absorbed by the dampeners before the shock or vibration can damage the electronic components. Affixing dampeners to portions of the chassis may provide shock and vibration protection with minimal weight.
