An antimicrobial alloy includes titanium, niobium, and silver. Further, the antimicrobial alloy includes between 5 and 30 atomic percent niobium, up to 3 atomic percent silver, the remaining atomic percentage is titanium, and the alloy does not include zirconium. The antimicrobial alloy has a predominantly beta-titanium crystal structure and an elasticity modulus ranging from 60 to 85 GPa. A process for manufacturing the antimicrobial alloy. The antimicrobial alloy prepared by the method can be used in bioimplants.

A composition for inhibiting corrosion in gas wells includes a pyrazolopyridine derivative. The pyrazolopyridine derivative includes a pyridyl moiety, a first pyrazole moiety, a second pyrazole moiety, and a phenyl moiety. The first pyrazole moiety is bound to the pyridyl moiety. The second pyrazole moiety is bound to the pyridyl moiety. The phenyl moiety is bound to the pyridyl moiety. The composition can be flowed into a wellbore formed in a subterranean formation, thereby inhibiting corrosion in the wellbore.

Inhibiting corrosion in gas wells

Sol-gel coating formulations including metal oxide particles such as aluminum oxide, calcium oxide, zinc oxide, magnesium oxide, and molybdenum oxide embedded in a hybrid polymer matrix based on a reacted form of a resin composition containing a tetraalkylorthosilicate, an aminoalkylsilane, a dialkoxysilane, and a silanol terminated polydimethylsiloxane. Bearing steel comprising cubic boron nitride (c-BN) and/or nickel coated cBN spark plasma sintered at a temperature in the range of 850-1050&#xb0; C. is disclosed. The tribological and corrosion resistance of the bearing steel improved with increasing the amount of c-BN. Further improvement in the properties was achieved with the incorporation of nickel coated c-BN, which caused a phase transition of the bearing steel from magnetic to non-magnetic phase accompanied by interdiffusion enhancement between the matrix and c-BN reinforcement.

A corrosion inhibiting composition and methods of inhibiting corrosion of a metal surface for use in the oil and gas industry. The corrosion inhibitor includes at least one polyamine, an alkanolamine, at least one surfactant, preferably a linear alkyl alcohol ethoxylate, at least one thioglycol compound, and at least one alcohol solvent. The methods include combining effective amounts of the corrosion inhibitor composition and contacting a metal surface in carbon dioxide-containing aqueous environments commonly found in oil and gas industry. The composition is very effective against corrosion of metals in contact with aqueous sweet corrosive brine media when used in a dosage from 50-100 ppm.

Sweet corrosion inhibitor composition for use in the oil and gas industry

A corrosion inhibitor composition, which includes (i) a date palm leaves extract, (ii) a benzimidazole compound having at least one a carbamate group, (iii) a pyridine compound, (iv) a thiourea compound, (v) a cinnamaldehyde compound, (vi) a metal iodide, (vii) urotropin, and (viii) a base fluid containing an alcohol and an organic acid. A method of inhibiting corrosion of metal during acid cleaning is also disclosed, whereby the metal is treated with an acidic treatment fluid containing 1 to 5 wt. % of an acid, based on a total weight of the acidic treatment fluid, and 0.1 to 5 vol. % of the corrosion inhibitor composition, based on a total volume of the acidic treatment fluid.

Corrosion inhibitor composition and methods of inhibiting corrosion

A method of preparing stable waterborne polyurethane nanocomposite with a long shelf-life time is described. The stability of the nanocomposite is achieved by effective mechanical and sonication mixing of diisocynate and clay. Also, the stability is achieved through optimization of the amount of clay and carboxylic acid with hydroxyl functionality.
