A method of making a boronated zeolite catalyst includes preparing an initial slurry comprising water, a shape selective zeolite, boric acid, and a weak acid selected from the group consisting of oxalic acid, citric acid, and oxalic acid and citric acid, hydrothermally treating the initial slurry at a temperature of from 70° C. to 90° C. to produce a hydrothermally treated slurry comprising dealuminated zeolite particles, adjusting the pH of the hydrothermally treated slurry to an intermediate pH of from 8 to 9 to produce a basic slurry, after adjusting the pH to the intermediate pH, hydrothermally treating the basic slurry at a temperature of from 70° C. to 90° C. to produce a boronated zeolite slurry, removing liquids from the boronated zeolite slurry to produce a boronated zeolite filtrate, and drying and calcining the boronated zeolite filtrate to produce the boronated zeolite catalyst.

Methods of making boronated zeolites and processes for cracking butene-containing streams

A method of producing a hierarchical zeolite composite catalyst. The method including dissolving, in an alkaline solution and in the presence of a surfactant, a catalyst precursor comprising mesoporous zeolite to yield a dissolved zeolite solution, where the mesoporous zeolite comprises large pore mordenite and medium pore ZSM-5. The method also including condensing the dissolved zeolite solution to yield a solid zeolite composite from the dissolved zeolite solution and heating the solid zeolite composite to remove the surfactant. The method further including impregnating the solid zeolite composite with one or more active metals selected from the group consisting of molybdenum, platinum, rhenium, nickel, and combinations thereof to yield impregnated solid zeolite composite and calcining the impregnated solid zeolite composite to produce the hierarchical zeolite composite catalyst. The hierarchical zeolite composite catalyst has a mesostructure comprising at least one disordered mesophase and at least one ordered mesophase.

Composite hierarchical zeolite catalyst for heavy reformate conversion to xylenes

A method of producing a hierarchical zeolite composite catalyst is provided. The method also includes condensing the dissolved zeolite solution to yield a solid zeolite composite from the dissolved zeolite solution and heating the solid zeolite composite to remove the surfactant. The method further includes impregnating the solid zeolite composite with one or more active metals selected from the group consisting of platinum, rhenium, rhodium, molybdenum, nickel, tungsten, chromium, ruthenium, gold, and combinations thereof to yield impregnated solid zeolite composite and calcining the impregnated solid zeolite composite to produce the hierarchical zeolite composite catalyst. The hierarchical zeolite composite catalyst has a mesostructure comprising at least one disordered mesophase and at least one ordered mesophase.

A method for producing xylenes from a heavy reformate feed includes the steps of introducing the heavy reformate feed and a hydrogen feed to a dealkylation reactor, reacting the heavy reformate feed with the hydrogen gas in the presence of the dealkylation catalyst in the dealkylation reactor to produce a dealkylation effluent, introducing the dealkylation effluent to a splitter unit, separating the dealkylation effluent into a light gas stream, a toluene stream, a benzene stream, a C9 aromatics stream, a C10+ aromatics stream, and a mixed xylene stream in the splitter unit, introducing the toluene stream, the C9 aromatics stream, and a hydrogen stream into a transalkylation reactor, reacting the toluene stream and the C9 aromatics stream in the presence of the transalkylation catalyst to produce a transalkylation effluent, introducing the transalkylation effluent to the splitter unit, and separating the transalkylation effluent in the splitter unit.
