Configuration information representing the configuration elements of a client PC or the like on a network is compared with initial configuration information. When the configuration information changes, it is determined whether the configuration is proper. If the configuration is improper, the function of a corresponding configuration element to the network is inhibited. This can prevent an unstable state of the system, leakage of information, and a decrease in reliability of the network system upon a change in network configuration.

An image processing apparatus includes a reception port capable of receiving a paper document. A discharge port discharges a paper document received from the reception port and serves as an ID card reception port. A conveyance path connects the reception port and the discharge port to each other. A conveyance unit conveys the paper document received from the reception port or the ID card received from the discharge port. An image reading unit, provided on the conveyance path, reads a double-sided image of the paper document or the ID card. An image processing unit matches a first image data output condition obtained by reading, by the image reading unit, the paper document received from the reception port, with a second image data output condition obtained by reading, by the image reading unit, the paper document received from the discharge port.

The information processing apparatus comprises a control program including a first driver required to control the first information reading apparatus, and a second driver required to control the second information reading apparatus. Control information from the information processing apparatus to the second information reading apparatus is transmitted via the first driver and the second driver.
