The method of making an implant consists on coating of a supporting structure () with synthetic hydroxyapatite by immersing the supporting structure () in a suspension () and triggering of a cavitation in a portion of the suspension () being in contact with the supporting structure (). The suspension () is formed by a liquid external phase, advantageously water, and internal phase, i.e. particles of synthetic hydroxyapatite having an average particle size not exceeding 100 nm and containing structural water in an amount from 2 to 6% by weight. The implant is coated with the above described hydroxyapatite subjected to cavitation and a thickness of 50 nm to 1000 nm, advantageously 50 nm to 300 nm.

Method for manufacturing bone implants and bone implant

We disclose a system for preparing antimicrobial surfaces, coated with metal oxide nanoparticles by means of a novel sonochemical method. These antibacterial surfaces are widely used in medical and other applications. The deposition of metal oxides known to possess antimicrobial activity, namely ZnO, MgO and CuO, can significantly extend the applications of textile fabrics, medical devices and other items and prolong the period of their use. By means of the novel sonochemical method disclosed here, uniform deposition of metal oxide nanoparticles is achieved simply.

Sonochemical coating of textiles with metal oxide nanoparticles for antimicrobial fabrics

Nanoparticle composites comprised of a metal oxide and ions of a metallic element included within a crystal lattice of said metal oxide are disclosed. Process of preparing the nanoparticle composites per se and incorporated in or on a substrate are also disclosed. Uses of the nanoparticle composites and of substrates incorporating same, particularly for reducing a formation of a load of a microorganism or of a biofilm, are also disclosed.

Doped metal oxide nanoparticles of and uses thereof

We disclose a system for preparing antimicrobial fabrics, coated with metal oxide nanoparticles by means of a novel sonochemical method. These antibacterial fabrics are widely used for production of outdoor clothes, under-wear, bed-linen, bandages, etc. The deposition of metal oxides known to possess antimicrobial activity, namely ZnO, MgO and CuO, can significantly extent the applications of textile fabrics and prolong the period of their use. The present invention provides pharmaceutical compositions comprising water-soluble sulfonate-protected nanoparticles, more particularly, pharmaceutical compositions comprising water-soluble sulfonate-protected silver or gold nanoparticles. The pharmaceutical compositions of the invention are useful in prevention or treatment of infections or conditions or disorders caused by microorganisms capable of binding to heparan sulfate, e.g., herpes simplex viruses.

Pharmaceutical compositions comprising water-soluble sulfonate-protected nanoparticles and uses thereof

The present invention discloses a process for making rare earth (RE) doped optical fiber by using RE oxide coated silica nanoparticles as the precursor material, more particularly the method of the present invention involves preparation of stable dispersions (sol) of RE oxide coated silica nanoparticles at ambient temperature and applying a thin coating on the inner surface of silica glass tube following dip coating technique or any other conventional methods, of the said silica sol containing suitable dopants selected from Ge, Al, P, etc., the coated tubes were further processed into optical preforms by following MCVD technique and fiberized in desired configuration, the novelty lies in eliminating the step of the formation of porous soot layer at high temperature by CVD process inside a fused silica glass tube for formation of the core and also in the elemination of the incorporation of the rare earth ions into the porous soot layer following the solution doping technique or other conventional methods, the direct addition of RE oxides in the sol eliminates the formation of microcrystalites and clusters of rare earth ions and prevents change in composition including variation of RE concentration in the core which results in increase in the reproducibility and reliability of the process to a great extent, further the addition of Ge(OET)at ambient temperature in the silica sol reduces the quantity of GeClwhich is required at high temperature to achieve the desired Numerical Aperture.
