A process for communicating with a plurality of push-to-talk (PTT) devices in a wireless network of PTT devices includes, at a first one of the PTT devices, responsive to detecting a change in selected channel, via a channel selector input, from the first channel to a second channel while a PTT input is activated: transmitting, to other PTT devices in a first talkgroup on the first channel, a notification that further transmissions by the PTT device will be made in the second channel, switching the transmitter from the first channel to the second channel, and transmitting further communications to the one or more other PTT devices in a second talkgroup on the second channel.

Method and device for maneuvering talk groups to a new channel

A source rate associated with a video bit stream () and a channel () rate associated with an LTE environment can be identified. The video bit stream () can be a Scalable Video Codec (SVC) of an H.264/MPEG4 Advanced Video Coding. The channel () rate can be associated with one or more segment bandwidth () rates. An enhancement path from an enhancement profile () associated with the SVC can be determined. The enhancement profile () can include one or more cumulative source rates and an associated enhancement options. The enhancement options can be a frame quantity, frame size, and a frame quality (). The enhancement path can be a subset of nodes of the enhancement graph (). The channel () rate can be matched to a cumulative source rate to a node within the enhancement path. One or more Network Abstraction Layer (NAL) units () with the appropriate enhancement values can be conveyed.

Source rate and channel rate matching for scalable video transmission

Apparatuses and methods are disclosed for increasing calling capacity in a carrier by dividing timeslots on the carrier into sub-slots and for conveying usage and access rights information for each sub-slot on a carrier. A base station configures a control signal that is associated with each of a plurality of timeslots on a carrier. Each of the plurality of timeslots is divided into sub-slots and specific fields in the control signal are associated with each sub-slot. The base station provides, to mobile stations, at least one of a usage marker or access rights information through the control signal. The mobile stations use the usage marker or access rights information to determine whether transmission of voice traffic and control signaling is permitted on each sub-slot.

Method and apparatus for conveying usage and access rights information for each sub-slot on a carrier

A method and apparatus is disclosed for increasing calling capacity in a carrier using enhanced Terrestrial Trunk Radio (TETRA) protocols. The method includes transmitting, by a base station to at least one mobile station, a permission signal for an assigned timeslot on a carrier, wherein each timeslot is divided into at least two sub-slots. The method also includes configuring a control signal that is associated with each of the plurality of timeslots. Specific fields in the control signal are associated with each sub-slot on each of the plurality of timeslots. The method further includes providing usage markers through the control signal. Usage markers values are divided into ranges, each range used to identify a timeslot or a sub-slot assignment on the carrier. The base station sends a time advance value to the mobile station to indicate when transmission from the mobile station is to begin.
