An aromatic silicon-containing compound has the formula:Ar&#x2014;[X-L-SiR(OR')]where Ar represents an aromatic group, X represents a divalent or trivalent group; L represents a divalent linking group; R represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group; R&#x2032; represents an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms; n is an integer of from 0 to 2; and m is an integer of from 1 to 5. The aromatic silicon-containing compound can be used in electrophotographic photoreceptors, particularly in outmost protective layers of such electrophotographic photoreceptors.

Imaging member

The presently disclosed embodiments are directed to charge transport layers useful in electrostatography. More particularly, the embodiments pertain to an improved imaging member having a charge transport layer comprising a top layer and a bottom layer, wherein the layers have varying concentrations of high quality N,N,N'N&#x2032;-tetra(4-methylphenyl)-(1,1&#x2032;-biphenyl)-4,4&#x2032;-diamine to provide tunable discharge rate.

Imaging member and methods of forming the same

The presently disclosed embodiments are directed to charging devices which produce a negative corona. The present embodiments pertain to the use of a positive charging device, such as a scorotron, after the erase lamp and before negative charging station in the xerographic cyclic to mitigate the undesirable changes in charge transport layer electrical properties that result from exposure to corona while negatively charging the photoreceptor during latent image formation.

A process for preparing a high sensitivity titanyl phthalocyanine (TiOPc) pigment includes dissolving a Type I TiOPc in a suitable solvent, precipitating an intermediate TiOPc pigment by quenching the solution comprising the dissolved Type I TiOPc in a solvent system comprising an alcohol and alkylene chloride such as, for example, methylene chloride, and treating the intermediate TiOPc pigment with monochlorobenzene. The resultant TiOPc pigment, which is designated as a Type V TiOPc, is suitable for use as a charge generating material in a photoreceptor of an imaging device.

Disclose is also a process for forming the photoreceptors described herein and a method of forming an image with the photoreceptors described herein.

A photoreceptor with a substrate, a charge generating layer, a charge transport layer including N,N,N'N&#x2032;-tetra(4-methylphenyl)-(1,1&#x2032;-biphenyl)-4,4&#x2032;-diamine, having a purity of from about 95 percent to about 100 percent, and a protective overcoating layer, optionally including a hole transport material other than N,N,N&#x2032;N&#x2032;-tetra(4-methylphenyl)-(1,1&#x2032;-biphenyl)-4,4&#x2032;-diamine, that will discharge from about 85% to about 100% of its surface potential in from 0 to about 40 milliseconds upon being subjected to xerographic charging and exposure to radiant energy of from about 1 erg/cmto about 5 ergs/cm.
