A fluid transport conduit for conveying ink-jet ink from a reservoir to a printhead in an ink-jet printer is provided. The fluid transport conduit comprises at least one inner layer, such as high density polyethylene, cyclic olefin copolymer, or polypropylene homopolymer, that is flexible and is a barrier to liquids, and at least one outer layer, such as nylon or polyvinyl alcohol, that is a barrier to air and is softer, or more compliant, than the inner layer, with the inner layer bonded to the outer layer. The two layers are advantageously co-extruded to form the fluid transport conduit.

Co-extruded tubing for an off-axis ink delivery system

An apparatus capable of performing pick operations on multiple sizes in a printing device is disclosed. This apparatus separates a media sheet from a stack and drives it along a media path. The apparatus also corrects any pick skew of the media sheet caused during the pick operation before the media sheet is transferred to the drive roller. By ensuring that the traversing media sheet has a leveled leading edge, the pick skew of the media sheet is substantially eliminated.

Apparatus and a method for picking multiple-sized media sheets

A sheet feed mechanism for feeding sheet media in a printing device. The mechanism comprises a slidably retractable tray accommodating a stack of sheet media, and a pick mechanism including a friction roller for picking individual sheets from the stack of sheet media and advancing the sheets along a media path. The pick mechanism is configured such that in use the friction roller applies a compression force on the stack of sheet media to increase the friction force between the friction roller and the top sheet of the stack. When the stack of media is exhausted, the friction roller applies a compression force directly on the tray floor. In order to prevent the friction roller from being dragged around as the tray is retracted, the tray floor includes a ridged surface in a region where the friction roller applies the compression force. The ridged surface also helps to remove paper fragments attached to the friction roller.
