Provided is a machine type communication system including a machine type communication device operating with a battery. The machine type communication system may monitor a residual power of the battery supplying power to the machine type communication device, and may output the monitored residual power to a device of a manager that manages the machine type communication device. Also, a point in time when the residual power of the battery is to be monitored may be determined based on the residual power.

Scheme for monitoring battery of machine type communication device

Provided is a paging method and apparatus considering a carrier aggregation (CA) environment in a mobile communication system. A paging method of a user equipment may include: selecting a component carrier (CC) set of the user equipment by selecting a CC for each component carrier element (CCE); receiving, from an evolved Node-B (eNB), a paging message containing a CC set; setting up a connection with the eNB through the CC set of the user equipment when the received CC set is the same as the CC set of the user equipment, or when all the CCs are included in the received CC set; and changing the CC set of the user equipment to the received CC set and setting up the connection with the eNB through the changed CC set when the received CC set is different from the CC set of the user equipment.

Paging method and apparatus considering carrier aggregation environment in mobile communication system

Provided are a data transmission apparatus and a data reception apparatus when a retransmission of a data unit repeatedly fails in a Radio Link Control (RLC) layer. When a retransmission with respect to a particular data unit, for example, a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) continuously fails, each of a transmission entity and a reception entity may detect the retransmission failure and locally process a corresponding packet. Accordingly, the transmission entity and the reception entity may continuously transmit and receive data.

Apparatus for processing retransmission failure in radio link control (RLC) layer

Provided is a technology that enables a terminal to quickly perform an idle-to-active state shift and to quickly perform a handover using a carrier aggregation characteristic. The terminal may attempt a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection establishment using a plurality of carrier components. When the RRC connection establishment using one of the carrier components succeeds, the terminal may transmit an RRC reconfiguration complete message to a base station.

Idle-to-active state shift apparatus in carrier aggregation environment

A caller authentication system that may enable a called party to be provided with identification information of a caller may be provided. The caller authentication system, including: a communication system to transmit, when a call request signal is received from a calling terminal of a caller, network information and a telephone number of the calling terminal to a certificate authority server, and to request identification of the caller, the network information and the telephone number being included in the call request signal, to transmit, when identification information of the caller is received from the certificate authority server in response to the identification request, the identification information to a called terminal of a called party, and to enable the identification information to be displayed on the called terminal.
