A plug lid for fitting in an aperture in a container comprises a peripheral flange, a plug wall extending from the inner periphery of the flange, a retaining bead protruding laterally from the plug wall at a distance from the flange, an annular portion extending inwardly from the plug wall, a frustoconical portion extending axially and inwardly from the inner periphery of the annular portion to support a central panel in or near the plane of the peripheral flange. The annular portion joins the inside of the plug wall adjacent the retaining bead and extends inwardly and axially at an obtuse angle A.degree. to the plug wall to join the frustoconical portion. The lids may be moulded from polyethylene, polypropylene or nylon.

A lever lidded container has a lever ring moulded from plastics material to comprise an annular flange engaged with the container body, and a frustoconical portion extending radially and axially in relation to the annular flange, towards the interior of the container, to support a cylindrical receiving portion which engages with the plug portion of a lever lid. The container body may be moulded from plastics material or formed from sheet metal.

An actuator for an aerosol container having upper and lower rotatable parts which may be rotated between an operative and an inoperative position. When rotated into the operative position, an actuating member is raised by cam action to a position where it engages an arm member, whereby the valve of the aerosol container may be actuated. When rotated to the inoperative position, the actuating member is lowered by cam action to a position where it is flush with the upper rotatable part and does not engage the arm member and whereby the valve of the aerosol container cannot be actuated.

There is disclosed a container for containing a liquid such as paint, the container having a side wall and a bottom moulded in one piece from plastics material, the container being formed to co-operate with and retain a removable lid, and comprising a flexible inwardly projecting flange moulded integrally with the side wall and adjacent the top thereof, the flange being upwardly and inwardly inclined at its attachment to the side wall. Because the flange is flexible and is inclined to the side wall at its point of attachment to the side wall, the core on which the container is moulded can be withdrawn from the container past the flange, as the flange will deflect and ride over the core. The flange then springs back to its inwardly projecting position and serves to prevent liquid slopping out of the container if the container is filled with liquid on a standard filling line such as is used for metal lever-ring paint containers.
