A color display tube with an elongated phosphor screen having a pattern of discrete phosphor elements. In order to reduce landing errors of the electron beams, in particular in the X direction, and simultaneously minimize the amount of magnetic material used for the internal magnetic shield, the color display tube has an internal magnetic shield consisting of a tub that is deep-drawn from a foil, which tube has a bottom with an aperture for allowing passage of electrons. Material of the bottom adjoining the aperture for allowing passage of electrons has been bent outwards from the plane of the bottom. In this manner, material of the bottom of the tub which would otherwise have been cut away is used to enlarge the &ldquo;virtual&rdquo; height of the magnetic shield.

A color cathode ray tube comprises a color selection electrode which is secured to a frame and a magnetic screening cap. The frame has two diaphragm portions one of which is located near the color selection electrode and the other is further removed from the color selection electrode. The distance between the electron beams deflected towards the outermost apertures of the color selection electrode and the further removed diaphragm is at least 1 cm. By virtue thereof, the negative influence of the frame on the screening effect of the magnetic screening cap is substantially reduced.

A color display tube is described of the 3-in-line type having a display screen with a stripe-shaped phosphor pattern. The display tube has an internal magnetic shield with a scanning aperture at its gun-sided end for electron beams produced by the electron gun and scanning the display screen. This scanning aperture extends into the short side walls of the shield in a pair of diametrically extreme points at each side to form an oversized scanning aperture with two, and the aperture has a ratio from 1.5 to 1.75 standardized in accordance with the aspect ratio between the long central axis and the short central axis.

The invention relates to a metal ribbon and a method of manufacturing same, in which a layer or track of magnesium oxide is provided on the metal ribbon by decomposition of magnesium alcoholate which is provided by means of a dosing system which is sealed from the air. A sinusoidal information track of magnesium oxide is preferably used. A layer of silicon oxide to be manufactured by thermal decomposition of a liquid silicon compound may be used instead of magnesium oxide. A magnet core which is formed by winding the metal ribbon succeeded by impregnation with epoxy resin is particularly suitable for use at high frequency because interlaminar eddy currents are suppressed.

A solar collector comprises a tube containing an evaporable heat transport medium and having an evaporation zone and a condensation zone arranged during operation at a level higher than that of the evaporation zone. A refrigerator comprises a primary refrigerating system and a secondary refrigerating system in heat-exchanging contact with each other. A refrigerator comprising a freezing compartment and a refrigerating compartment which refrigerator is provided with a primary refrigerating system containing a refrigerant with a primary evaporator disposed in the freezing compartment, and a secondary refrigerating system which also contains a refrigerant with a secondary evaporator disposed in the refrigerating compartment, and a secondary condensor which is in heat-exchanging contact with the primary evaporator, which condensor has a condensation wall on whose surface the refrigerant condenses during operation, means being provided for varying the available condensation wall area, so as to control the temperature of the secondary evaporator. Preferably, the secondary condensor is provided with a reservoir containing a control gas, which during operation constitutes an interface with the refrigerant vapor at the location of the condensation wall, the interface being movable along the condensation wall with the aid of a reversible control gas getter, which can be heated and which is located in the reservoir, which getter enables the amount of free control gas to be varied. The reversible control-gas getter can be heated by means of an electric heating element which is included in an electrical control circuit.

A device for zigzag folding of strip material and the like by means of two dies, the facing sides of which are provided with teeth. Each of the dies is provided with ducts which open into the toothed die face. During operation, the two duct systems are alternately connected to a source of a pressure, either higher or lower than atmospheric pressure, in order to keep the material alternately against one of the two toothed die faces during open die positions.
