The metering servovalve () includes a valve body (), a shutter (), and an electromagnet (), and is housed inside a casing () of the injector (). The electromagnet () activates a movable armature () performing a travel defined by a stop member () carried by the electromagnet (), which is fixed inside the casing by a threaded ring nut () with the interposition of at least one deformable shim (). The ring nut () is screwed to a predetermined tightening torque to a thread () on the casing () to elastically deform the shim (). And the shim () is defined by a metal ring with, for example, an L-, C-, S-, Z- or &#x3a3;-shaped cross section.

Adjustable metering servovalve for a fuel injector, and relative adjustment method

A fuel injector for an internal-combustion engine comprises an injector body and an injection-control valve, which in turn comprises: an open/close element; an elastic thrust element for pushing the open/close element; and a solenoid actuator, which can be actuated for exerting an action countering the thrust exerted by the elastic element. The solenoid actuator is formed by a monolithic assembly obtained in a mould, in which there is injected, on a core and a coil coupled to one another, a plastic material, which defines, once it has solidified, a body for insulation of the core from the injector body and which forms, once it has solidified, a monolithic assembly with the core and the coil.

Method for obtaining a fuel injector for an internal-combustion engine, and an injector made according to said method

A fuel injector comprising a hollow body for housing a metering valve with a calibrated pipe for outlet of the fuel from a control chamber. The calibrated pipe is normally kept closed by a shutter controlled by an electromagnet comprising a magnetic core and an electric coil housed in an annular slot of the core. The coil outer cylindrical surface forms a gap with the annular slot so as to be lapped by the fuel coming out of the calibrated pipe. The coil comprises a bobbin having a pair of appendages for supporting electric supply plugs, which are englobed at least in part in a block of non-magnetic material. The bobbin has a substantially cylindrical rib, one flange adjacent to an end portion of the plugs, and another flange having a smaller diameter that forms a passage for the fuel between the calibrated pipe and the gap.

Fuel injector for internal combustion engine and corresponding method of manufacture

A fuel injector for an internal-combustion engine houses, in a hollow injector body of its own, an injection-control valve, the valve body of which delimits, together with the injector body, an annular chamber designed to receive a fuel under pressure, and insulated in a fluid-tight way by a seal member carried by the valve body and made of plastic material.

Fuel injector for an internal-combustion engine

An internal combustion engine fuel injector () has a rod () movable along an axis () to open/close a nozzle, and a servovalve () having a control chamber () with a discharge passage () which is opened/closed by a shutter () movable axially under the control of an electro-actuator; the servovalve also has a fixed axial rod () having an outer lateral surface () through which the discharge passage () comes out; the shutter () is fitted to the axial rod () to slide axially in substantially fluidtight manner, and, when closing the discharge passage (), is subjected to substantially zero resultant axial pressure by the fuel; and a calibrated portion () of the discharge passage () is formed close to the outlet of the discharge passage to produce swirl and/or cavitation in the fuel outflow near to the closing area between the shutter () and the axial rod ().

Internal combustion engine fuel injector

An injector with an adjustable-metering servo valve is provided. The injector has a shutter actuated by an armature of an electromagnet. The armature is mobile for an opening stroke defined by a surface of the core of the electromagnet, which is fixed in the casing by a ring nut and a hollow support of the core. The hollow support has a first contact surface that acts on a flange of the core. Set between the surface and a shoulder of the casing is a shim. An annular projection, having a second contact surface, is set between the surface and a shoulder of the casing. The second contact surface is contained at least in part in the area corresponding to the first contact surface so that the stroke of the armature is adjusted by plastic deformation of the shim or of the surface of the core.

Fuel injector with adjustable-metering servo valve for an internal-combustion engine

The fuel injector comprises a hollow casing, fixed on which is a nozzle having a nebulizer for the fuel under pressure, a needle axially mobile for opening and closing the nebulizer by means of a first end thereof, and a control rod, substantially coaxial with the needle and in direct engagement therewith. The needle is normally pushed into a closing position of the nozzle by the fuel under pressure acting on the rod, aided by a compression spring, which acts on the needle through a sleeve that is in axial engagement with a portion of the rod. The sleeve further comprises a surface designed to engage at the front and directly one end of the needle. The spring engages another surface of the sleeve so as to transmit its action directly onto the needle.

A control servo valve is housed inside the casing of an internal combustion engine fuel injector, and has an actuator, a control chamber communicating with a fuel inlet and with a fuel outlet passage, and a shutter movable along an axis by the actuator between a closed position and an open position to close and open the outlet passage respectively; the servo valve also has a fixed axial rod interposed between the actuator and the control chamber; the outlet passage comes out through an outer lateral surface of the axial rod; and the shutter is defined by a sleeve which slides axially on the outer lateral surface, and, in the closed position, closes the outlet passage so as to be subjected to a zero axial resultant force by the pressure of the fuel.

Servo valve for controlling an internal combustion engine injection

A control servo valve () is housed inside the casing () of an internal combustion engine fuel injector (), and has a piezoelectric actuator (), and a control chamber () having a fuel outlet passage (); the outlet passage () comes out inside an annular chamber () defined by a fixed tubular portion () and by a shutter (), which engages the tubular portion () in substantially fluidtight manner and is slid axially by the piezoelectric actuator () from a closed position, in which it closes the annular chamber () and is subjected to a zero axial resultant force by the fuel pressure, to an open position, in which the outlet passage () communicates with a discharge conduit.

Servo valve for controlling an internal combustion engine fuel injector

The metering servovalve () comprises a valve body (), an open/close element () and an electromagnet (), and is housed in a casing () of the injector (). The electromagnet () actuates a mobile armature () for a travel defined by a polar surface () of the core () of the electromagnet (). This latter is fixed in the casing () by means of a threaded ring nut (), with the interposition of at least one deformable adjustment shim (). The ring nut () is screwed with a pre-set tightening torque on a thread () of the casing () so as to bring about an elastic deformation of the adjustment shim () and to prevent accidental unscrewing of the ring nut (). The adjustment shim () is constituted by a metal ring with a cross section having a shape chosen between L, C, S, Z, and &#x3a3;.

Adjustable metering servovalve for a fuel injector

A fuel injector has an injector body extending along a given axis; a tubular valve body housed inside a hole in the injector body and coaxial with the injector body; and an annular chamber defined by the injector body and the valve body. The method of producing the injector includes connecting the valve body to the injector body, and fixing the valve body in a given position along the axis with respect to the injector body by means of a driving operation to interference fit the valve body inside the hole in the injector body.

Method of producing a fuel injector

The injection system comprises a high-pressure pump () with variable flowrate, having a number of pumping elements () actuated with reciprocating motion and provided each with a corresponding intake valve (). An accumulation volume () is supplied with fuel at low pressure from an intake pipe () of the pump () through a solenoid valve () controlled as a function of the operating conditions of the engine (). The accumulation volume () is in communication with the intake valves () through corresponding outlet holes (), and the solenoid valve () is provided with nebulizer holes () such as to generate corresponding jets of fuel, each directed towards at least one of said outlet holes ().

A fuel-injection system ('&#x2033;) for an internal-combustion engine (), of the type provided with: a tank () for collection of the fuel; compressor system () for drawing in the fuel from the tank () and making it available at high pressure to an storage volume (); at least one injector (&#x2032;&#x2033;) hydraulically connected to the storage volume () for taking in the fuel at a high pressure from the storage volume () and injecting it into a respective combustion chamber () of the engine (); a fluid line () connecting the storage volume to the tank; and pressure-regulator means () in the storage volume () set along the fluid line (); the pressure-regulator systems () are set hydraulically downstream of the storage volume () so as to enable a continuous flow of fuel through the storage volume () itself.
