A data radio has an arbitrary number of processors configured to interact with a single cryptographic engine or security module. Hardware strapping allows each card and processor to identify its location in a system. The static region of the field-programmable gate array contains the functionality to manage access to the backplane. Dynamic regions of the field-programmable gate array fabric are used to route the data correctly to and from the security module within a specific application. Software is deployed on any card with a generic load that is agnostic to its location and the hardware self-configures.

Method for cryptographic engine to interface with an arbitrary number of processor cards in a scalable environment

A security module is disclosed. In embodiments, the security module includes a common host platform configured to co-host a plurality of certified functions via a plurality of interconnected hardware resources. The common host platform may be configured to host a first certified function independently certified via a first certifying authority, and a second certified function independently certified via a second certifying authority. The first certified function may be hosted on a first sub-set of dedicated hardware resources and a first sub-set of shared hardware resources. The second certified function may hosted on a second sub-set of dedicated hardware resources and the first sub-set of shared hardware resources including one or more hardware resources shared with the first certified function.

Security module with multiple independent physical and virtual lanes

A processing system includes a first processing circuit including a first PLC configured to receive a red signal, a plurality of first processors operated by the first PLC to process the red signal, and a first hypervisor configured to control operation of the first processors. The processing system includes a second processing circuit physically separated from the first processing circuit that includes a second PLC configured to receive a black signal, a plurality of second processors operated by the second PLC to process the black signal, and a second hypervisor configured to control operation of the second processors. The processing system includes a configuration controller configured to identify an operation to be performed by at least one of the first or second processing circuit and cause at least one of the corresponding first hypervisor or second hypervisor to allocate respective first processors or second processors to perform the operation.

Plug-ins can be utilized to provide cryptographic functions configured for either a first customer or a second customer.
