A fluid pump is provided for delivering a fluid, particularly blood, comprising: a housing with a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet and a rotor, which is mounted in the housing such that it can rotate about an axis of rotation in order to deliver the fluid from the fluid inlet to the fluid outlet, the rotor being mounted in the housing by means of a mechanical bearing. A flow cross-section between the rotor and the housing has a local or partial flow cross-section minimum in the direction of the axis of rotation in the region of the mechanical bearing.

An inlet cannula is provided for supplying a fluid from a human vessel to a fluid pump, the inlet cannula formed as a hollow structure suitable for conveying the fluid and a surface of the inlet cannula has an ingrowth zone and an inlet zone separated from each other by a tear-off edge extending in the circumferential direction of the inlet cannula, wherein a first tangent to the inlet zone on the tear-off edge has an angle to a longitudinal axis of the inlet cannula of &#x3e;0&#xb0; and &#x3c;180&#xb0;, and wherein a surface roughness in the ingrowth zone is greater than a surface roughness in the inlet zone, and wherein along the flow direction the ingrowth zone is concave, convex, or not curved and the inlet zone is convexly curved, and wherein the tear-off edge forms a curvature transition between the ingrowth zone and the inlet zone.

Inlet cannula for a fluid pump

Methods for operating a liquid pump having a rotor are provided for conveying liquids. The viscosity of the conveyed liquid, such as blood, may be determined while taking into account measured values of operating parameters of the pump. The pump may be operated in a predetermined region of a family of characteristic curves. The family of characteristic curves may link at least two operating parameters of the pump to each other, and, in the predetermined region, at least three parameters of the pump may be sensed and taken into account in order to determine the viscosity. Because of the operation in a predetermined region of a family of characteristic curves, the viscosity of the conveyed liquid can be determined in addition to the volumetric flow rate through the pump and the pressure difference across the pump when an appropriate selection is made from a sufficient number of sensed operating parameters.

Pump arrangement and method of operating a fluid pump

Methods for operating a pump are provided, the pump comprising a rotor for conveying fluids, wherein the volume flow rate through the pump and the pressure difference across the pump is determined, wherein at least one first operating parameter and in particular a second operating parameter of a first group of operating parameters are detected and, depending on the value of the first and in particular also the value of a second operating parameter of the first group, the volume flow rate through the pump and the pressure difference across the pump is determined from detected values of the operating parameters, either from the first group of operating parameters, or values of another set of operating parameters, in particular at least one additional operating parameter, are taken into consideration in order to determine the volume flow rate and the pressure difference across the pump.
