The present invention provides a solid bleaching block on the basis of an alkali metal monopersulphate for use in an in-cistern dispensing device, also comprising at least 5% by weight of an alkaline earth metal soap. By the use of these soaps, blocks are obtained which release the bleaching agent at an acceptable rate yet maintain their block structure.

Liquid bleaching compositions

Built detergent bleach compositions having improved low temperature bleach performance comprising a sequestrant builder; a peroxyacid selected from peracetic acid, monoperoxyphthalic acid and monopersulphate and water soluble salts thereof; and 0.005 to 0.1% by weight of Manganese (II) ions, in the substantial absence of hydrogen peroxide. The compositions can be used for washing and cleaning fabrics at temperatures below 40.degree. C.

Detergent bleach compositions

Built detergent bleach compositions comprising a surface active agent, a peroxide compound/peracid precursor bleach system which forms peracids in solution, an alkali metal carbonate builder and trace levels of manganese (II) ions. The detergent bleach compositions deliver an improved bleach performance and can be used for washing/cleaning of fabrics at temperatures of below 40.degree. C.
