The disclosure relates to a power grid, comprising a converting stage comprising a plurality of DC/DC converters. At least one of the DC/DC converters is a single-stage isolated DC/DC converter comprising a voltage control configured to control a voltage of the respective DC/DC converter. The DC/DC converters are connected in series and at least one of the plurality of converters of the converting stage is configured to provide a respective predetermined output voltage to a load.

The present invention relates to a method of operating a wind farm comprising an upstream and a downstream turbine, wherein the upstream turbine is operated with current operation parameters under current wind conditions, wherein the method comprises the steps of: receiving future wind conditions for a time period for the wind farm, and evaluating required operation parameters for minimising wake effect of the downstream turbine under the future wind conditions, and determining a cost coefficient for changing the operation parameters to required operation parameters under consideration of fatigue effect of the wind turbine, calculating power productions Pand P, in the predetermined time period, by the wind farm if operated with the current operation parameters under the current wind conditions and if operated with the required operation parameters under the future wind conditions, respectively, and operating the upstream turbine with the required operation parameters if the cost coefficient is lower than a cost that would be obtained by a power production increment P-P.

Optimal wind farm operation

The present invention is concerned with an operation of a wind farm with a plurality of wind turbines in view of a dynamic frequency response. According to the invention, dynamic frequency support and power production for all wind turbines in a wind farm are handled concurrently in a single optimization step and taking into account wake effects within the wind farm as well as optional wind forecast information. The dynamic frequency support capability of the entire wind farm is planned in advance according to grid requirements and power system condition changes. While existing methods de-load wind turbines with a static percentage in order to supply additional power when needed, the proposed method incorporates the dynamic frequency support into the optimal operation system of wind farm.

Wind farm inertial response

A method for planning a charging of an electrical vehicle comprises receiving a request for charging from an electrical vehicle at a charging pole, determining a charging time slot for the electrical vehicle based on the request for charging, scheduling the charging time slot for the electrical vehicle, predicting a load requirement for the charging pole based on the request for charging and the charging time slot, and sending the load requirement to a grid operator supplying the charging pole with electrical power.

Self-managing charging poles

The present application is concerned with a flexible way of operating a wind farm with a plurality of degrading wind turbine components. According to the invention, maintenance scheduling and power production in the wind farm are handled concurrently in a single optimization step. Instead of a serial approach first scheduling maintenance activities and subsequently adapting the power production and/or wind turbine operation the two aspects are optimized together. The wind farm operation takes maintenance aspects into account by adapting life index or health status based on modeled mechanical and electrical stress. Accordingly, the wind farm owner may decide when and how much energy to produce accepting which level of stress to the turbine equipment. The proposed optimization of wind farm operation includes all aspects of transmission network operator settings, the topology of wind farms and the underlying collector grid, the short and long term wind conditions forecasts, the conditions of the turbines, the estimated remaining operational time under different usage patterns and times, as well as aspects of the electricity market.

An exemplary method and apparatus for detecting islanding conditions of a distributed grid are disclosed, wherein transfer of power through a power electrical unit is controlled on the basis of a control reference. The apparatus includes a first stage and a second stage performing a respective portion of the method. The first stage injects a reactive component to the control reference, and, for at least one electrical quantity of the grid, determines a change in the quantity induced by the injected component, and determines, on the basis of the change in the electrical quantity, whether to move to the second stage of the method. The second stage, for at least one electrical quantity of the grid, determines a value of the electrical quantity, forms a positive feedback term using at the determined value adding a positive feedback term to the control reference, determines a change in an electrical quantity induced by the feedback term, and determines islanding condition on the basis of the change in the quantity induced by the feedback term.

Method and apparatus for detecting islanding conditions of a distributed grid

A method is provided for detecting islanding conditions in an electric power network which includes a plurality of sub-networks. The sub-networks include at least one power electrical unit and are separable from each other and a main grid supplying the network by switching devices. The method includes determining topological information of at least one sub-network of interest, detecting islanding conditions in at least one sub-network of interest on the basis of the topological information by using separate detecting devices for each sub-network of interest, and sending, on the basis of the islanding conditions detected by using the detecting devices, a disconnect signal to at least one power electrical unit in at least one sub-network of interest.

Detecting islanding conditions in power networks

A system and method of controlling an electricity generating system that includes at least one intermittent energy source generating plant are disclosed. An exemplary method includes calculating actual operating parameters of the at least one intermittent energy source generating plant; calculating forecast operating parameters of the at least one intermittent energy source generating plant; generating intermittent energy source contingency definitions from such actual operating parameters and forecast operating parameters; analysing the intermittent energy source contingency definitions to provide contingency analyses; and controlling the electricity generating system in dependence upon such contingency analyses.

A method and system are provided for controlling a distribution of electrical power in a power distribution network having a first power distribution region and a second power distribution region. The first power distribution region can include first primary devices that interact with first process devices, and the second power distribution region can include second primary devices that interact with second process devices a distribution controller including a standardized description of the first region. A first distribution controller can be connected to the first process devices, can control a distribution of electrical power in the first power distribution region, and can identify, following a network reconfiguration, an orphan network section that is disconnected from the first region and connected to the second region. The first distribution controller can transmit a standardized description of the identified orphan network section to a second distribution controller connected to the second process devices.
