A method and network node for predicting and adapting to mobile radio link characteristics in a sector are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes learning a set of at least one trajectory based at least in part on a first set of observations received from at least one wireless device (WD), a trajectory including a subset of the first set of observations. The method also includes assigning a trajectory in the set of at least one trajectory to a first WD of the at least one WD based at least in part on a second set of observations received from the first WD subsequent to receipt of the first set of observations. The method further includes adjusting an update period for receiving future observations from the first WD based at least in part on the assigned trajectory.

Method and apparatus for predicting and adapting to mobile radio link characteristics in a sector

Embodiments of a method in a network node configured to transmit data using an automatic retransmission process are disclosed. The method comprises: receiving data to be transmitted to a remote endpoint; and when all process identifiers in a predetermined set of process identifiers are currently in use: selecting one process identifier from the predetermined set of process identifiers; storing information pertaining to a previously transmitted transport block in a temporary buffer, the previously transmitted transport block including the selected process identifier; and transmitting the received data in a second transport block including the selected process identifier.

Enhanced HARQ algorithm for large round trip delay links

Systems and methods are disclosed for optimizing Robust Header Compression (RoHC) to protect against context desynchronization resulting from a burst of lost packets. In one embodiment, a method of operation of a radio node to adapt a RoHC compressor of a radio node based on a transmit channel quality metric is provided. In another embodiment, systems and methods relating to improved RoHC SN decoding are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of operation of a radio node includes determining a size of a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) Sequence Number (SN) gap for a radio link between the radio node and a second radio node, and performing RoHC SN decoding based on the size of the PDCP SN gap.
