Methods for representing multiple scales in an image using a variational algorithm are provided. An iterative decomposition of an image into a total variation ('TV') part, which may be a weighted TV ('TV') part, and a residual part motivates the design and use of a partial differential equation that may be referred to as a multiscale total variation flow, or multiscale weighted total variation flow. This produces a multiscale representation of the image. The speed of this decomposition can be controlled with a user-defined function, and is fast enough to allow for real-time applications of denoising and image registration.

System and method for medical image quality enhancement using multiscale total variation flow

A system-on-chip (SOC) transceiver is provided. The transceiver is configured to operate in excess of 100 GHz and comprising the following components. A quadrature oscillator is configured to generate a fundamental frequency and a second harmonic frequency and comprises at least a pair of high frequency outputs at said second harmonic frequency. At least the second harmonic frequency exceeds 100 GHz. A transmission output is coupled to one of the high frequency outputs for transmitting an output signal at the second harmonic frequency. A transmission signal transformer is coupled to the other one of the high frequency outputs and configured to generate a differential oscillator signal at the second harmonic frequency. A radio frequency input receives radio frequency signals at the transceiver from an antenna. A radio frequency signal transformer coupled to the radio frequency input is configured to generate a differential radio frequency signal at the radio frequency. A mixer is configure to compare the differential radio frequency signal with the differential oscillator signal and output the comparison as an intermediate frequency signal.

A method for non-invasive mapping (imaging) of the electrical impedance of an object. The present invention provides a method, current density impedance imaging (CDII) which produces an impedance image of object by measuring current density distributions and directly calculating the local impedance values. The method includes making measurements of at least two current density vector fields, Jand J, within a region of interest in an object and then calculating the logarithmic gradient of local conductivity, &#x2207; ln &#x3c3;(x,y,z), using a formula where {right arrow over (J)}(x,y,z) and {right arrow over (J)}(x,y,z), are the pair of measured nonparallel current densities at point (x,y,z) and &#x2207; denotes the gradient operator.
