A touch screen display is presented which comprises a display screen, a plate of a rigid transparent material, mounting apparatus for mounting the plate on the display screen, touch sensing transducers cooperating with the mounting apparatus for producing a plurality of electrical signals in response to, and representative of, a force applied to the plate; the force results from tactile stimulus of the plate while the mounting apparatus includes a film composed of a transparent, elastic, adhesive compound, having a similar refractive index to that of the display screen; the adhesive compound being applied to one surface of the plate for bonding that surface to the display screen.

Touch sensitive display

A CRT display system is described wherein a measure of the beam current generated within the CRT is derived and the voltage across the cathode heater modified as a function of this measure. In this way the optimum voltage across the heater coils is maintained, thus preventing 'cathode stripping' at times of peak beam currents, and optimizing the CRT's working lifetime.

Method and apparatus for increasing the cathode efficiency in a cathode

Cathode ray tube apparatus including compensation (14) for the vertical component of terrestrial and of other ambient magnetic fields (15). The compensation is achieved by the generation of an opposing vertical magnetic field by energization of the degauss coil (11, 12) in the apparatus. Two embodiments are described: one applies a continuous direct current (21) after the degaussing operation and the other applies a direct current component coincident with the degaussing signal to permanently magnetize components of the apparatus. The magnitude and polarity of the compensation provided may be variable.
